You are no angels either . You can blame the lack of grass for the blood , there was blood on our side aswell . If you have ever played in higher grades its more physical , our lack of subs is due to being at the receiving end of season ending injuries . If its hard and fair ok, if its dirty and blaintent no.
Our formation was forced with no subs and many players in unfarmilar roles. I'm glad it worked well.
Final 4 confirmed after Auburn defeated St Michaels 2-0. Next weeks round has no bearing on the top 4 and final positions. First week of semi finals are as follow: Sudden death 4v3 - Parra v Newington GF Qualifier 2v1 - Rocks v Auburn The Axe Has Spoken !
Pendle Hill forfeited against us in Rd10 and have not shown up today.
Full Rams team and 3 officials but no Pendle Hill.
A few phone calls to find out they refuse to play us. Shame on PH 35/4.
We have watched this team cause trouble from Kellyville to Wenty to Pendle Hill over the last 5 years. Sooner they go the better.
Hope Granville slams the club with fines
After being physically bashed by your blokes in round 3, they refused to play you. Battered and bruised & unprotected by the appointed referee. How many times do we hear "C'mon, I have to go to work tomorrow". The threats about not turning up to play a bunch of thugs gets bandied around all the time, but when a team actually takes action they get called gutless. These boys value their health more than the 3 points.
Play hard but fair.
You will get your hope & Pendo will get fined & we will pay the fine.
That's it for this season... Lost 2-0 in an arm wrestle Two early goals in the first half before we settled was the difference . A few new faces for auburn today , we scrapped together the bare 11 again. The last 4-6 weeks we have had only one or two of our 4 forward line play , today we had none. We did hit the crossbar 4 times , one from a pen. It was not to be. Ref was very good and controlled the emotions well.
Not our most memorable season but I think we held our our own considering the teams that finished ahead of us last year are playing in div5. Most games we had just enough to take the field which is a pain when you have 18-19 signed to play. Next year?.... We will see....
Good luck to the top 4 Rocks- well structured strong but predictable Auburn - more lethal in attack but can lapse Parra -on their day but not as strong defensively Newo- indifferent form of late
For the record StMiks 1-0 over rouse hill . Started with 9 till midway through the 1st half . They spread the ball well in the rain but we held tight to keep a clean sheet. 5th on the ladder this year, pitty it's not the NRL. Good luck in the finals top 4. Any other results ?
Auburn 2-1 over Rocks , interesting observation Blocka regarding Auburn having "new faces" we have had on average 1 or 2 reserves max , with 3 games this year just the bare 11 , yesterday I along with 4 others couldn't play but Auburn always seam go have a full bench. Have seen them play 5 times this year and they always have new players. Around 4-5 weeks ago I went to watch them play Newington, Newington had their usual 12 players but Auburn started with 13 players and soon had 16 players to chose from with 3 players I hadnt seen all year. Interesting - we will be back to full strength next week and will definitely be checking ID cards ( something we havent done once all year) PS - You guys were the hardest team to beat all year there was something about you guys that we just couldn't click. Good luck next year
So that is the 2nd loss to the same team. We beat them easily in the 1st game but the losses may have been due to not playing in the previous week (should have been playing rydalmere). As TheAxe said, only 1 sub who was sick with the flu anyway. Both teams opportunities in the 1st half with Rocks hitting the post twice and Auburn hitting the post and putting wide when one on one. Some sloppy defensive play let Auburn score in the 1st half.
2nd half was stronger for Rocks but again a lapse let Auburn score a 2nd after Rocks stopped for an apparent offside, only for the ref to play on as he wasn't interfering in play and the ball went out to another player to score.
Even though it was a meaningless game in the biblical sense, Rocks still kept pressing and could have scored with a one on one but the striker shot straight at the keeper. Also their other striker, normally so reliable, reacted to late to a ball that rolled across an open goal.
Eventually Mr Reliable came up with the goods, though was flattened by the keeper in the process. Couldn't find the equaliser but Auburn deserved the win. Lets hope the semi in on next weekend.
Would also like to say that while the Auburn team were generally great (except one of them kneeing one of our players for no reason). There was some Auburn idiot on the sideline shouting abuse mid play though the 2nd half.
And yes, we will be checking all cards before all game now.
Rocks 1(5) - Newington 1(6) - Newington through to the GF via penalty kicks. Great game well done to Newington playing the best game of the year - both teams finished with plenty of injuries. Great year and thoroughly enjoyed it -on behalf of the Rock boys good luck to both Newington and Auburn next week. Chao - The Axe Has Spoken For The Last Time This Season
Great game today against the rocks winning in a sudden death penalty shootout after golden goal extra time and normal penalties. North Rocks came out hard and were awarded a penalty which they converted to take a one goal lead but the gunners came back into the game and scored with a well worked move. The North Rocks team tired as they usually have a number of subs although not today and we began to take control of the game and felt we deserved the win.We have had an indifferent season of late as we have had a lot of injuries and then 3 or 4 players away on holiday for 6 weeks and have had no more than 2 subs all season and played our second half against Auburn a few weeks ago with only 10 men losing 3-2. Even today we only had one sub . Well played the Rocks as we were minor premiers 2 years ago and lost the grand final to the fourth placed team who we had beaten twice that season too. It should be a great game against Auburn next week. Although Newington have had teams in Grand finals before we have never won a grand final in our history.
Lost to Auburn 5-4 in a penalty shoot out . Like last week we were one down from a penalty but pulled a goal back . Like last week it could have gone either way . We controlled the possession in the game but auburn probably had the better chances. Well done to auburn . Thought North Rocks were the better team over the whole season. That's football!
