The score was 2-1 AD way. We played our bench boys and had our core line up on the bench wanting to save them for the weekend. We didn't play one of the strikers, centre mid and two backs. After a goal went in with about 10 minutes to go the Winston boys were so pumped after their goal we quickly put the regular boys back on!
Yes, did notice you were saving players, which was wise for the game at the weekend, but you guys should take the win there. Winston have some skilful players on their team but can't seem to make it gel, which is a shame. The first half I saw was just pot shots from 25 to 30m by Winston when in some cases they had the opportunity to get closer and put your keeper under pressure. I'm sorry I left now as it sounds like the game amped up!
Auburn District won 2 nil against castle hill RSL. Great game od soccer to watch with respect from both teams. Couple of our boys watched AFC v CHU from what they said it was an ugly game with 1 all draw. I understand RsL playAF on wednesday night at Castle Hill, 7pm. Terrible time to play and FC will need to allow a good hour or more with the car park called Windsor Road! Took an hour to get to Winston Hills home ground at seven hills. Most of that was going about 2klms on windsor rd. castle hill is so much longer on windsor rd. good luck making the field on time! How did the rest of the boys go?
Hi Allballs, You probably already know on the Granville Website that Ermo won and are right on your heels for a spot in the finals. Do you still have a make up game against them? If so looks like a pretty important one for you both. Best of luck! Cheers, Fairgo
It will be a cold night tonight for the boys to play. The ground will become slippery as nightfall occurs, let alone rain. Aim for a win and settle for a draw, sounds a plan. I am sure tonight's game will be like a mini grand final, certainly that's what it was like playing Castle Hill RSL last weekend for Minor Premiers spot and honour to go to Champion of Champions. For that reason next weekend is perhaps the least important game we have played this season as we are Minor Premiers regardless of the outcome of next Saturday. So feel free to pull a point! Actually we would be stupid to play our normal start up 11 and really should allow some of the boys injuries to settle leading up to finals and Champion of Champions.
Was very pleased to see Winston Hills have such a good victory last weekend and get off the bottom of the leader board!
It was certainly a cold and wet night and muddy as.
Yes, it was an intense match where we got the first goal in the first 4 minutes, and they got one back soon after. We then got another, then them again and finally we put the last one in! The good thing is they were all good well earned goals.
Congrats by the way on the Minor Premiership. I only saw the tables today and there is no doubt your team is the rightful recipients after leading the table for all but one week.
Yes, Winston have improved of late and good to see them get the win.
Thanks to Baulko for hosting the match. Wasn't it great to see the game played in the conditions. The rain, the mud, some puddles on the pitch & not a hint of it being dangerous or called off.
May not have done the pitch much good but it was not in a great state to begin with. How come games that have to be played so a round is complete can be played in such conditions but when we have the same amount or less rain on a Friday night, pitches are closed all over the place?
Maybe more people should remember the good old days & just let the fields be used for the reason they are there in the first place. To be played on.
Interesting comment by the Ermo coach at the end of the match, something like - "if we had 15 players like you guys had, we would have won". Maybe, maybe not!! The match didn't reach any great heights but there was some nice goals scored by both teams. C Hill had the better of the match & played the better more constructive football but Ermo stayed in the match until the end & did have couple of chances to score. In saying that C Hill had a lot more chances.
Bad luck Ermo & well done to C Hill for making the semis.
Hi leeds, allballs, what a great game you had. If i had thought it would have been played i would have watched as our fields were closed and had some free time.congratulations on making the semis, you should always have been there. Hard luck to ermo they obviously made a good go of it by your commentary! See you guys on the weekend with no pressure now, the boys can have fun. Interesting will be auburn rivals v castle hill rivals in finals! Cheers Fairgo
Just been to see the RSL v FC game and it ended up 1 - 0 to RSL. Auburn had the majority of the opportunities with about 15 plus good attempts on goal but couldn't put them away, mainly down to a strong RSL defence and keeper. RSL had about 3 opportunities and I think it was the first one that was put nicely past the FC keeper.
The ref made quite a few questionable calls including 2 possible penalties to FC of which one was a certain penno in my opinion.
