As i understand it the Connells Point were an under 16 side who played in the 17s comp and came first, obviously MP. They would have smashed the under 16s comp., mind you there were some big boys that dwarfed our players. what was obvious was they had put the hard yards into training and had discipline, oh to coach 16s again with commitment! I cant say that i will be doing this again, i have accreditation to coach all levels of rugby league and accredited in baseball, have coached hockey, soccer and managed teams for the past 18 years, but this year was the least rewarding with lack of commitment from players being the biggest problem. Maybe it is yr 12 for half the boys, cars, jobs and girlfriends! I have however enjoyed making friends with some of the other team supporters and chatting on forum. Cheers Fairgo
Hard luck Auburn District. It sounds like it was just one of those days and games!
Our 45's and 21's are through to semi's but our 14's and 12's were unfortunately knocked out.
Yep, 17/18 is a hard age to coach particularly with training as due to HSC, girlfriends, cars, late nights, they know better etc but I push my boys to keep playing together as I know once they get over that hump, they'll play for many more years together like our O45's do.
Hi allballs, congratulations on the teams that got through, hard luck to those who didn't. You never know on the day. I saw the CHU team at ray marshall, younger age group and one of your 17 boys watching his little brother. There was some good football after our game, so we watched some of it, don't know who the team was wearing white but skillful playing. Maybe 21s?? They looked very committed! I will see about next year. Have a great break! Cheers Fairgo
