All credit needs to go to Tony and his team! 5/6 years ago they were the whipping boys at rsl, only to go close two years ago and lost the final, to now premier league shield winners and both grades in GF. Winston hills with a great future, especially with those U17s running around who are unbelievable
Auburn, year after year you boys are always up there. Its almost like winsto has done exactly what you guys have done and kept the core for a number of years. You have beeb the bench mark for consistancy and credit to steve and the crew for helping the club move forward from the bad wraps the club always received. Displayed last week that on your day you are incredibly hard to beat in tight games
Should be a cracker of a day!
My tip- auburb to win ressies Winsto to win firsts
Good to see the two best clubs in the final. A bit of old guard vs new guard here. Also should be good fair games considering no one can claim stacking ressies issues like previous premier league seasons gone.
I think winsto likely to get up in both grades (just), all teams are good in defence but the winsto pace in attack should prevail. Best of luck to both.
Both teams pushed each other early on until a auburn player was sent off for dissent in the first 15 min. At this stage w.hills were up 1-0. Auburn kept attacking and recieved a penalty to make it 1-1. Soon after w.hills had a flurry of attacks and with the Auburn keeper pulling out some cracking saves, conceded again under the w.hills pressure. 2-1. With 20 min to go a fantastic free kick by auburn legend(nazir) made it 2-2. With 10 to go who else but nazir scores a great headed goal from a corner. Auburn hold on with ten men for most of the game.
FIRST GRADE AUBURN 1 W.HILLS 0
Up against the best team in the comp auburn were clearly struggling early on. W.hills held possession and made our boys run after them. They had numerous chances and nothing but the brilliance of the Auburn keeper kept them in the game. On any other day w.hills go into half time 4 goals up. Auburn played deep and played on the counter and defended as a unit as clearly we could see w.hills turning the screws. We had some chances on the break but again auburn keeper was like spider man in those goals keeping out the w.hills boys again. Extra time comes and from a free kick who else but Nazir comes on and smashes a headed goal to into the roof of the net. We held on and worked out butts of collectively and came home with a massive win.
Credit to the family and supporters of both sides. Both games had a great atmosphere. Tony and the w.hills, congrats on challenge shield and on the success of your season. And big wraps for staying back for photos and some talk after the game.
