Girraween Park was already on the edge during rounds 17&18. As a result games were relocated to other grounds. I'd suggest this rain will almost certainly see Girraween Park closed for the weekend.

Why can't Gdfsa hire the artificial turf grounds for the weekend and play all the finals there.?

They would need to find and hire 9 of them, would be around $12K and most are already booked is the problem.

20 years from now majority of fields will be Astro and a lot cheaper than now...you'd think.

Money is an issue Astro aren't cheap and there's a lot of divisions and teams. Example Football NSW at Parklea is $225 per field per hour. IMO I'd be surprised if season is not extended by one week should games not proceed this weekend.

I have been told that there is a decent chance there will be grounds available for Saturday as Auburn Council have said there are some grounds that should be ok to use.

Failing that the association is awaiting a response from the Councils asking to extend the season by 1 week to accommodate the GF on the 10th September. If the Councils don't agree there will be a vote to decide if its 1v2 for the GF or the winners of last weeks Semi's playing each other.

Still unsure but I am hoping there will be sufficient grounds open to play on Saturday.

Time to forget the weather and concentrate of football. With a lot of minor premiers losing the first semi i think they can all breathe a sigh of relief and prove they deserve to be in the grand final.

Just walked Guildford West Sportsground and the girls finals will go ahead on Sunday as planned. In better condition than Girraween when we played on it in about round 12

I have also heard that Progress is in good shape

Our fields are open but in racing terms will be a dead track so don't expect the ball to run well but the mud will be fun, last games for the year.

I was texted by my coach as well telling us the game is on. Ground closure lines are not updated yet but I am pretty confident we will be playing.

ROI on Astro pitches is 5 years.
