A great effort today from all the lads ,we started well and after 15 minutes we scored the opener with a nice cut back well finished the rest of the half ebbed and flowed with the Greys missing a golden opportunity close to half time and it was 1-0 at the break. Again we started the second half well and earned a penalty which was converted, 2-0 up 10 minutes into the half and the unthinkable was happening ,midway through the half with the Greys pressing we caught them on the break and our striker tucked it away well ,the Greys scored a late headed goal from a corner for the final score of the game. Thanks to the referee and Linesman who both did a great job.
Its been a while since someone from Greystanes White put something up. Unfortunately our regular updater (Fatboy) has been sidelined for the rest of the season. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
Round 11: Auburn 6 - Greystanes White 1 A bad day at the office for us. The 14 bodies that did turn up for the match against Auburn did not appear to be interested in playing football.
Round 12: Pendle Hill 1 - Greystanes White 4 Good to get the mojo back
Round 13: Holroyd Rangers White 1 - Greystanes White 0 A hard physical match where the result was not certain until the final whistle was blown. A great game for us. The only What the? was the Holroyd centre back (No.5) who put three of our players on the deck before being shown a yellow card. That gentleman needs to understand that when an opposition player has moved the ball past him and then he body checks them at speed, this is not shoulder to shoulder.
Round 9 Catchup (Sun 02/07/2017): Ermington United 1 - Greystanes Whites 1 Another hard game with lots of banter between both teams where again the result was not certain until the final whistle. A draw was a fair result for both teams. Ermington do seem to turn on one another when things don't go to script though. But they are a very good side and are definite finals contenders.
On a chilly Thursday night it was a whirlwind start from the Green Machine and we were 3-0 up after 10 minutes but Parra hit back midway through the half to make it 3-1 and that was the halftime score, we dominated the second half but a combination of desperate defence and inaccurate shooting kept us to only 1 more goal ,special mention to the Parra keeper who was very good in the second half and also the referee a familiar face from the Greys Black team who did a great job officiating.
It was a big ask today backing up from Thursday night and the lads responded, starting well we scored from a free kick that was headed home at the far post ,Auburn then equalised midway through the half after springing the offside trap but a well worked goal late in the half had us leading 2-1 at the break. The second half was a tense struggle played hard, we hit the post with 20 mins left and with Auburn pressing we landed the killer blow with 2 mins to go our striker scoring with a cheeky back heel. A big 8 days for the Green Machine picking up 3 wins against some quality opposition and believe me the drinks certainly went down well after this one!

Greystanes Black vs Ermington
Interesting contest with Stanes scoring from a great strike after the keeper launches a long one. Stanes continued to press but lead only 1-0 at half time. Second half and Stanes knocked in a second well taken goal. Ermington to their credit fought back and scored after a scramble in the boxing a few moments later scored another. Stanes fought back and scored a screamer to go back in front. The game finished 3-2 but was marred by a really bad injury to one of greystanes players. Dislocated ankle. Ermington can play football but they have two or three completed tossers who just can't help themselves only matched by their insane manager, please get a grip of yourselves and lighten up little, you might live longer

Wenty Waratah 0 Holroyd Black 3
A lovely day for football at Ted Burge today ,with Wenty only having 9 players it was always going to be a tough day for the home team, they defended stoutly against wave after wave of our attack and did well to limit the damage even earning a penalty with their only attack of the second half , failing to convert after hitting the post. We now look forward to the double header next weekend where some huge match up's could decide semi final positions, as the great Michael Buffer says "Let's get ready to rumble"

Holroyd Black 2 Ermington 3
Ermington started fast in this hard fought match and virtually before we had touched the ball it was 1-0 they continued to press but we hung on and warmed to the task and should have been level at half time missing a golden chance. The second half was 10 minutes in when a defensive mistake gifted Ermington their second goal but we rolled up the sleeves and with 15 minutes to go 2 quick goals from set pieces had us level but 5 minutes later a cross floated over our keeper hit the juncture of the crossbar and post and dropped in , a real heartbreaker after a great fightback. Well done to Ermington who are a quality team also the referee who did a good job.
With our semi final ambitions on the line we put in a less than inspiring performance yesterday combined with Greys White playing hard and committed we found ourselves down 1-0 after an even first half. The Greys got an early second half goal with one of their few attacks of the half and then parked the bus we pegged one back with 15 minutes remaining and we pressed hard for the equaliser which would have kept us in pole position for a finals spot but Greystanes defended with desperation and with their goalkeeper having a great match fully deserved a hard fought victory. Barring a miracle with Auburn dropping points v Wenty our season is over next week so I will turn my hand to tipping the semi finals when the match ups are finalised.
It was a good hard game today with both sides having 12 players who all played with commitment in the final game of the season for both sides and it was an even first half ending 0-0. The Green Machine gradually gained the upper hand after the break and a penalty 15 minutes into the half had us in front and another goal 10 minutes from time sealed the game ,all in all a good game from both teams. Good luck to all the semi finalists next week.

Time for the Loneranger to get the crystal ball out and here are my fearless semi final predictions
Major Semi > Greystanes v Ermington : I'm tipping this to be a no holds bar encounter ,Ermo are the form team coming into the finals but I've got a feeling the Greys can prevail if they aren't to bad injury wise 2-1 my tip
Minor Semi > Holroyd v Auburn : This game will be decided by the key match up being Auburn's high powered attack v Holroyd's strong defence, again this game being sudden death could mean tempers being frayed with some feisty characters on both sides I'm tipping Auburn to win a tight struggle 2-0
Good luck to everyone in the semi finals and I wouldn't be too surprised if both tips were wrong as this years competition was very even between the top 5 teams

I was out at the Holroyd v Auburn clash at Guildford Park today and with Holroyd fielding the bare 11 they turned in a mighty effort in very windy conditions they soaked up the pressure well and midway through the second half landed the killer blow after pressuring the keeper following a back pass, this result sets up a very interesting final next week v Ermington after they went down 2-1 to Greystanes ( exactly as tipped by myself ) this game again will be a contrast in styles which should be well worth the price of admission! My exclusive tip later next week Lol
