i know its not good to read too much into trial form but this year we've had some interesting pre season games and gives us an insight. CHU played Fairfield HS came out with a 3-3 draw norwest played Fairfield HS came out with 5-0 loss merrylands played Fairfield HS came out with 6-1 loss merrylands played norwest NR up 1-0 at ht and ml came back to score 2-0 2nd half finishing 2-1 to merrylands
its no secret Fairfield HS are going to be a strong team in the Sthn Districts comp. Well done to the 3 Granv teams to go up against them.
so merryman you put up 6/4 for CHU i know a few people that would love to take those odds. believe me you might be right theirs no certainty in football, other than hard work and do your best.

Ona, Thanks for the compliment, our boys are all really keen to get started and see just where they sit in the mix of Div 1. Our goal is to be competative week in week out, that gains respect both from fellow players and fellow coaches in our view. I think that from 3rd to 6th will be a good battle and hopefully the semi final mix will not be decided until the last week. Don't discount Dundas and Wenty. This is going to be the most even comp, so lets all get out there and support our boys. Good luck to you all. Let the games begin
Norwest came out of the blocks quickly but your boys sat back and absorbed the pressure well and then started to show their class. the last goal from the free kick was beautiful, had the Norwest keeper off his line too soon and he misread it badly. His nobs enjoyed the game and felt sure that the CHU boys ould easily compete in Div 1 YL as a team and having been with him to some of tose games i think he is right
4 of ML boys from last year playing in 15/1's for Rydalmere, apparently they won 10-0 today. They are part of a soccer academy that has entered a team in the higher grade. I sense they will thrash most teams in the age group. I question the fairness.
What is unfair about it?
With no disrespect to the 4 lads from Merrylands 13/1's last year, I doubt that they were top line players, whom are now playing up an age group with kids that are obviously keen on putting more effort in than most in trying to improve themselves. Good on them & if that means they win most matches comfortably, well, so be it. What should they have done, played up 2 years?

Well done to CHU White on their win yesterday. Proud of the effort my boys put in, and even though we were outplayed in parts of the match they hung in there and might even have got themselves a goal if not for a fantastic save from the Castle Hill keeper. All in all, considering the size of the field, the heat and the standard of the opposition - all of what we were unaccustomed to - the boys gave a good account of themselves.
Congrats to Wenty for their outstanding result yesterday.

The Norwest boys were disappointed with the result but not the effort that they put in. After the game we spoke with them about taking their opportunites when they come, they thought that they had 5 chances during the game, 3 in the first half and 2 in the second. This is what they have to get used to. To the credit of the CH boys when they had chances they converted which show's the difference between 1's and 2's, but we learn. They also will learn from their mistakes. They all said it came down to 2 mistakes in the first half and a free kick in the second. Our penalty from a similar spot gets pushed over the bar while the CH penalty goes in the back of the net. Congrats to CH. After seeing the results my prediction of a tight comp seems to be on the money. Well done to everyone after Round 1, bring on Round 2.
your lads have every right to be happy about their performance, as you said, it's the finish that makes the difference, and the fact they have identified their mistakes shows promise. Good luck to them and will follow their progress with interest
