Hey olebear, it was like Kewell's hand ball in the world cup. Our keeper got a hand to the cross, but deflected the ball into the path of our defender who instinctively stuck his hand out. It was a clear scoring opp. The second one, our defender put his hands up to protect his face. We were lucky with that call, because it could've gone either way. Ref was a Pendle Hill over 35's player who was excellent.
Well you win some and lose some. I referreed an U15 match, and twice a female player put her hands up to protect her chest when the ball was coming towards her. Both times she was inside the edge of the penalty area right on the goal line and the ball went out for a corner. I didn't penalise her each time. It was instinctive and protective on her part. Her coach didn't say a word, but blew me up for a disputed penalty that ended up in a spot kick. He didn't say a word about the goal I disallowed for my son's team, as the kick was taken as I was blowing the whistle for half-time, the off-sides I blew up against our kids, the 2 handballs in the field and the 2 barging penalties against the team my kid was in. Refs can't win.
Accurate description from bigmac re. the Pendle Hill and Auburn game. Both of the handballs were heading into the back of the net, although the goalkeeper was behind the defender for the second one so maybe he could have made a save.
Anyway, our game this week against Guildford has been deferred. Apparently there was an incident last weekend with Castle Hill and they have been suspended. Anyone have the details?

Fights or low quality game Big Mac? Watched the blacks yesterday. Looked very sharp and could've scored more. RSL had a few handy players too, but Winsto too solid overall. I'd imagine there'd be a lot of teams hoping they don't make the top four!
Guildford County vs Auburn FC was a bit of a scrapy game but overall not all that bad...
Guildford missed a penalty early on and never really threatened thereafter. Auburn controlled the midfield but couldnt finish a few through ball opportunities as the Guildford backs were fairly solid. The Auburn goal was a clever cut back taking the keeper out of play, 3 Auburn players were ready to pounce and they finished. Guildford to date have never been able to field the full strength side and as a result have struggled this season.
Guildford County against Castle Hill United was a good game in difficult conditions with a very heavy breeze blowing accross the field. The breeze so strong it contributed to Guildfords goal which came directly from a corner which curved in! With Guildford down to 10 men in the second half (Player had to leave) they struggled to hold possession and Castle Hill dominated with the wind at their backs. They had a number of shots but The County keeper pulled off a few great saves to keep County ahead. Castle Hill had to wait until the final 10 seconds of the game squeezing one in after a one on one with the keeper.
