Ok, maybe my previous post about the one day comp was a bit too formal. Nevertheless I was expecting a few more responses . I remember there were some suggestions in last year’s forum that someone should organise something similar. Here we are, were is the enthusiasm . Its a great opportunity for the kids to have some fun and play against one another before the season starts. Oh and did I say its indoor so it can’t be washed out or sunned out in 40 degree heat. Its sounds like I’m being a bit impatient but we need advance notice to book the venue…
Now to the other topic at hand. I also like to welcome CP to the forum. Looking forward to your contributions to this thread. I can tell you that our coach from last year will be coaching again this year.
Merryman, Good to hear from you again. Couldn’t agree with you anymore on using common sense. Unfortunately in many cases common sense dictates different things depending on which angle a matter is approached. Using your example, I believe (from some posts on the forum last year) that Dundas nominated for Div2 last year but looking at the results, to my opinion, the clearly belonged to Div 1. So from the Comp Sec’s point of view, clubs don’t always nominate for the right division.
Whatever happens I guess 3 weeks into the season we will find out which common sense was the better one. That brings me to the topic of regrading but I will start another thread for that.
One last thing. I’m having fun trying to figure out if some of the new names on this thread did participate in last years forum and who they were.
Thanks to everyone for making me welcome in your forum. To answer a few questions, afishinmission, I have no personal interest in this division except a few friends had children playing in this division last year and they are not sure whether they will be in it again this year.
Irish, you have skated around the question, are you coaching the first side at Wenty again this year in this division?
Not sure if I will contribute or just sit and read this forum but I do get a lot of laughs from it and enjoy reading the frustration OKO gets out of all the antics here.

And so the season grows near. The trial invitations drift out into the distance. The gradings are nearly done. There are a lot of shiny and brightly coloured new boots. It's the best time of the year !!

Well, Hello gents and welcome to 2009. I see many of the old brigade are back! Hey Fish-miss I reckon your’re odds on to get a red card. Must be the colour you like so much. Rhino… settle down. Just because the Manly lads have a little boardroom antics, don’t get too cocky. Your Leeds Rhino’s will know they are in a game. World Cup league winners would sit nicely for Manly this year on their quest for back to back NRL titles.
Well on to the football with the little lads.
Will Hills Brumbies continue their march for an elusive division 1 title? Can the BIG red, all stations to Lidcombe fire up some steam? Will the giant lads in sky blue, rock the comp this year? Can the green machine surprise you all and do it again for 3 years in a row? The lads in tangerine are they the improved team? The Kellyvillans they were close. Finished with 2 draws to Hills and CHU in final rounds, were unlucky in both.
That’s 6 teams
Question is who else?
Merryman are you returning? Wenty ? PCYC? Dundas? St Johns come Auburn FC?
I’m sure the 8 team comp will be played in great spirit and be a competitive season. I hope all players enjoy their football..

Rhino & Kaiser . . . Good to see you both back. Rhino, I hear you will be getting back some players to the team. Which should be good . . .coz you would have lost 6 or 7 to reps, right ? How is the boss rhino ?
Kaiser Chief . . How are the 11's shaping up ? I wouldn't be worried about the KV 12's making it back into firsts. Unless the team is dramatically changed, they deserve to be there. They were a good team last year. Don't know about betting on a top 4 spot. Who's place do you see them taking ?
OKO, et al . . . no worries. We are all refreshed and civilised after such a long lay-off. I ain't heard from my mate stan lately. I hope he is well.
Ona . .Good to see you back as well !. You will see a familiar face in Lidcombe Waratah this year. It's good to have you back on deck. When can we start talking about development ? . .just let me know. Please make sure to get your tomato buddy on line first, huh ? . While searching nearby comps for trial teams, I looked up the results for the old St Johns team. Don't even think for a minute that they would compete in this division. Won 8, lost 8 or something like that. Not the force they once were.
It looks like we are nearly all back on the forum. Shuffle up and deal !
Good to see almost all the usual suspects back & ready to fire up for another big year of U/12 football.
Fishmish......tell us more, a familiar face. number 7 maybe?? ona....hope you are well! Is your young bloke back for the 'Green Machine'? Syd.....good to hear from you as well. Your sons winning GF goal - was it from inside your own half yet? Hi to Mrs Syd! Kaiser.....can not see any reaosn why Kellyville would not be in Div 1.
Winsto had there first trial yesterday. Another next week then the teams will be selected. It was a little surprising that the grounds were open but the field was in great nick considering all the rain leading up yo it. I did see an amusing sight this morning when I drove past the same ground we trialled at, it had rained for 3 days, it was raining as I passed the grounds but yes the sprinklers were on. After all it was Watering Monday.
I think chief was referring to No Kellyville in 12/1s because they are not in the poll. I think once the teams are announced we should ask the mods to change the poll (I don’t think Irish can) or do a new one if it is possible.
Hey Chief, Are you connected to the Kellyville 12/1s in other ways than the club? I think even if your 12/1s don’t make the semi finals this year, they will be a lot closer (points wise) compared to last year.
Hey Syd, It took you a while to join, welcome back. How is the team shaping up?
Hey Ona, It took you a while for your first post. Well I think you did get the top 6 right. The other two would probably come out of Merrylands, Wenty or Dundas. It will be a pity to see either one miss out.
Hey fishin, You are right about Auburn. They would have lost a number of good players after splitting from the club. And yeah tell us more about the familiar face.
Hey leeds, Hope your 12s are graded better than last year. More on that in another thread. You know what the parks were being watered yesterday? Because the amount of rain wasn’t sufficient to warrant ground closures . All BHSC grounds are closed now.
All we need to do now is to get some regulars from Kellyville and Dundas and we will have a full house. Where is worldcup?

Curveball, When a team wins the comp 2 years in a row, it's hardly a surprise if they win it again. I'll explain it. You know, they won it the first year. Then, next year they win it again. Can you not see the pattern emerging ?
They will be strong again this year. As long as they didn't lose TOO many to reps ( which they probably did, seeing that the club is so heavily focussed on de.ve.lo.pment). How many trialled for reps. . . 6 or 7 . . or was it even more ? ? ?
Merrylands had 1st assessment tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. The bus from the airport appears to have missed Lidcombe and landed at Merrylands. (Ross, I hear you have been studying Afgan at TAFE - keep away)
Was uncertain about which division but we wll be definetly nominating for division 1. We have a definite 12 that are capable for division 1, need 1 more player. Each boy I asked from last year are wanting to play division 1 and want redemption.

Ah leeds - if i recall correctly, he was our keeper, took a long high goalkick, ran out, changed into his green shirt, headed on from half way, took it round at least 8 before turning round and backheeling past the advancing keeper - and it only took him 9.72secs from one end to the other. Wanna hear about the fish I caught last week? )
Team seems to be developing (there, I said it) well - only lost 1 to reps (U11's), with a number old/new recruits.
The Boss says hello.
Ona - fancy a little wager, we've done the Bulldogs and Storm 2 from 2?
now all we need to do is get cricket out of the way so we can concentrate properly.
BTW - where do you get all the bloody smilies from?
