GDSFA needs to follow FNSW eligibility as the winners will need players to play Champs OCs. Under 45's can't play COC so that messes everything up. Many O'45s still play in O'35s anyway. Maybe a suggestion is to have a player pool at GDSFA with interested players without teams that can be picked up by teams that are short. Teams that fold can have players available for the pool if they wish. It works for other sports.

I think most of us are not satisfied with the way the 45s comp has panned out this season. The way the comp has been published, teams in Div 1 will have no BYES and so will have 18 games (weather permitted) whilst Div 2 teams will have 3 BYES and therefore 15 games.
I'm just wondering if there is any support to combine the two divisions into one division of 13 teams.
The first 13 weeks will be the first round. Then following the end of this round, split the comp into 2 divisions of 6&7 or 7&6. The 6 team division can then complete a full 2nd round in 5 weeks whereas the 7 team comp will play 5 of it's 6 opponents. In this way all teams will have either one or two BYES during the season rather than none or three.
Aside from a couple of sides in div 1, the standard of the rest of the comp seems to be fairly even. I think most teams might relish playing different opposition throughout the season rather than facing only 5 or 6 different teams throughout the whole season (I notice Pendle Hill, Baulko and Kellyville White will play CHU four times this season before the final series)
Obviously there would be logistical issues to address. For example, catch up games to be completed by the end of week 13 so the split into div 1/2 can take place, as well as scheduling of games/fields for the 2nd round. Even at this late stage there might be an opportunity to change the draw up until the end of completion of the "first round" of 45/1s in about 4 weeks time.
It's by no means perfect but I feel we need to do something in order to develop a healthy 45s comp.
Old Harry agrees with you Lefty. Have to say thou I watched my Greys v Balko played in good spirts but a competeive game. Greys had the lead twice with Balko coming back for a 2-2 draw. Both teams knock it around & some good goals.
Hey Lefty try explaining to Castle Hill and Kellyville that 45/s should be all about fun. Castle Hill already doing what they did in 35/s and Kellyville not much better. I lost my spot in Kellyville 35/s and have had to move to another club for a game. OH AND BY THE WAY!! YES I AM OVER 35.
Cry me a river. Never mind old son, from every negative there is always a positive so look on the bright side. Now you can fall back on your real area of expertise of Orienteering and Floral Arrangements.
