Granville Waratahs played two tough games against good opposition.
Pendle Hills 2-1
We starting the game looking for someone to officiate our game without success and it was up to two players with knee injuries to stand at half way and make the call... thankfully they where not needed as the game was played in good spirit but I unfortunately conceding a remarkable goal from outside the box 3min from time.
We had a great deal of players missing from the Saturday game and had no sub to go too and we miserably failed in defending as a result of players playing out of position.
Anyhow that's football hopefully the gods start smiling on us.
Yes the game kellyville vs pendle hill been moved back a week for our team to get Tuesday night off work , we first thought be able to play with just 12 players but with 1 player dislocating his knee on weekend and 2 doing few ligament tears in ankle due to tackles we had to request it to push back so those players working to get the night off so we can get atleast 11 players to play which didn't think would be such a problem to push back a week since we moved the game for you boys first
At beginning of the season we had players fighting on who should start the match, but on Saturday against Winston hills we had to borrow two players from div 10 to complete 7 players.
We probably played better with 7 players for the first 45min and eventually got a full team by second half, unfortunately for Winston hills they couldn't take full advantage of our lack of numbers and wasted golden opportunity in the first half.
Second half, was end to end stuff both team having opportunities but no one could put the ball in the back of the net.
Winston hills is a very solid team but if they want to do something this year (like us) they need to find someone who can convert there opportunities.

The Lords squires have informed him of a 1-1 draw in the much hyped battle of the Blacks. Pendle Hill had the better of the first half despite Kellyville enjoying majority of possession without truly troubling the Pendle Hill defence. The yellow men took a 1 goal lead to the break but in the second half it was more or less all Kellyville in a livelier second half which saw an equaliser before both teams hit the post in the search for a winner. After the build up to the game any anger shown was predominantly at the referee in a respectful and well fought game.

Your boys played well the other night Bobo, pretty fair and even game so a draw was pretty spot on. I was intrigued to see number 6 "Parko" on your team. Unless he has a twin brother I'm pretty sure he lined up against us for Pendle Hill White a couple of weeks ago (he stands out on the field). Are you allowed to borrow players from the same division?
yeh i agree bronxy. we probably could have played a little better and thought we could have got the win but it wasn't to be. Your not the 1st person to say that about Parko as members of the kellyville team were also saying that on Tuesday. But they are not twins but indeed brothers The one that plays for th whites is his younger brother. There are also 2 other guys in the whites who are brothers of another guy in our team. Thats why we took such a keen interest when they played kellyville a couple of weeks ago
It was a good first half at the pendle hill v kellyville game. Pendle hill dominated that half. The second half was scrappy and kellyville won that half. I think the breeze played a vital role as both teams like to play the long ball regularly. Both teams should have been awarded a penalty through blatant hand balls in the box that the referee somehow missed. The pendo keeper dropped an absolute regulation catch into the goal. Which was the difference in the game, he didn't look happy. I will be shooting from long range when I play them again that's for sure.

Lidcombe 1 Winsto White 0.
Neither team dominated, a draw might have been a fair result. We conceded off a corner but otherwise kept them in check most of the game. Our strikers had a game to forget and just blasted away up front without getting anything on target, their keeper didn't have to make any saves despite the handful of chances we created. Disappointing but I think we're playing better than we have been.
As individuals there is nothing better then playing a team that's sitting pretty in the top of the table. Considering being very unlucky against the top four team this year due to injury's and conceding late goals, we lifted and made our own luck on Saturday.
The game started very slow with both teams trying to play in the worlds smallest field (great for us oldies) but Granville was first to settle with a fantastic 1-2 in the box and finished off beautifully, the Newington team didn't trouble the defence much but a dubious penalty in the box so Newington to the mark and easily converted.
Straight after Granville scored from the run of play and made it 2-1 but Newington score straight after with a fantastic through ball which was neatly finished off and going into the break 2-2.
After the break two players from Granville had to be taken off, one for injury and the other for administrative issues. But second half was a slug fest with both team offering nothing until 1 min from time with Newington scoring a late goal but to the credit of Granville not giving in scored the last goal with 10 sec left.
Before kick off the official ref decided he wanted to go home and enjoy a beer than officiate our game, but one of the lads from Newington helped out....cheers
Possibly the nicest bunch of guys we played this year (no offense to everyone else)
Pendo blk 3-1 over lidcombe . Lidcombe dominated early and scored off a through ball with a handy finish. Pendo clawed there way back into the game scoring 2 before half time. Lidcombe never threatened again and pendo got another with about 15 to go. Lidcombe are no where near as bad as some of the results suggest . Will cause a lot of damage in the 2nd half of the year
Pendo blk 2-2 v newington. Good result for is considering we had 13 blokes at a wedding for a player in our last team and were extremely under the weather . Pendo went up 2 nil early through a penalty for handball and a great through ball and great finish. We got complacent early in the 2nd half and they scored a cracker from range our goalie than handed them a goal through a poor goal kick which went straight to the striker and scored . With about 15 to go they were through 1-1 with the keeper when he was bought down by our defender who was rightly sent off . We did well to hold on with 10 probably creating the better of the chances . Newington have a good team but they are more a team full of heroes trying to go on the own and not passing . They are also the biggest bunch of whingers I have played . Every time they got touched they complained to the ref , they just fell over half the time . Esp number 14 NEWSFLASH champ you don't need to dive and complain everytime you get touched or lose the ball. There was also and incident in the 2nd half where our player went down injured and we had the ball just outside our own 18 yd box so we rightly kicked it out so our player could receive treatment . The game restarted with what you think would be the ball thrown back to is. WRONG . Newington chasing the game decided they wouldn't throw it back but just go on the attack which was very poor form I thought. These blokes are definitely beatable and are nowhere near as good as they think. Kellyville black with a full squad are easily the benchmark and would smash these blokes
Yeh I remember playing those Newington grubs. They beat us but definitely nothing special. They went down everytime I tackled them. I couldn't believe it, I know soccer players go down easy but they brought a new meaning to word soft. And I can see them not giving the ball back too, definitely something they would do... The bludgers.
We had a tough game today, good win. Played in good spirit. I think we have pendo and newington in the next month. Will be good to give it to them both. Pendo are tough and it's good. Competitive team, carry on like wankers but it's good for the game. Newington, please.

Granville 3 Winsto Wht 2
No 1pm game before us so we were never a chance of a ref, Granville had no one who could do it so one of our mates took the whistle. It was an easy game to ref but a couple of the Granville lads could learn a lesson in honesty. We had a free kick outside the box which our bloke put over their wall only for a Granville bloke to stick his arms up and knock it away. Not a massive incident but these unofficial refs need a bit of help so would have been nice if the bloke owned up to it. Otherwise, nice friendly game. Granville dominated the early stages and had a deserved 2 nil lead, the first off a keeper error from a firm shot, the second a well taken one on one after our boys slipped around in the mud. We got one back before half time with a keeper fumble of our own and went into the break looking the stronger. Second half was much the same, Granville looking the better for 30 mins and went up 3-1, then us finishing the stronger and pegging one back but not able to find the equaliser.
Good game, decent bunch of blokes, neither team to make the four.

Pendle Hill Black 1 Winsto White 0
Physical game accentuated by a referee who didn't want to make any calls. Goal came in the first half off a poorly defended corner. Pendo also hit the post from a shot that from all money was going in. Typically tight tussle between two teams that have been playing each other for years, dominated by defence but plenty of good ball movement from both teams until they got to the final third. Even playing with ten men for the last ten minutes the Pendle Hill defence held strong. When we played Pendo the first time they were missing a number of key players, happy to say we competed with a full strength team yesterday with the entire Pendo bench full. Until next year Bobo, good luck in the finals mate.
