e have 1 new over 35 team at Castle hill rsl. Our team which has been around for years have lost a few players and nominated for Div 3 as not as strong as last year and only just scraped into 4th spot in div 3 last year.
The norwest team cant be the same team in div 3 last year as they did not drop a point all year and won the comp easily. they must be in Div 1 surely as they would beat most Div 1 teams for sure.
Ol' Still here looking over the field for the Div 3's this season. I hope you are not pulling what we in the trade now call a "Norwest", claiming that you have lost a few players, not as strong as last year, just scraped into 4th spot etc etc. That is almost word for word what Norwest said last year about appealing their Div 2 grading and getting it upheld to drop to Div 3 and look how that turned out for them, not a single point dropped all season! Hope you are not telling the same porkies they told to guarantee themselves a trophy my son!
Also, how can the poor old Bob's,(Baulkham Hills Old Boys for the newbies!)who finished dead set last in Div 3 after finishing dead set last in 2's the season before still be in 3's???
It has always baffled Ol' Still how these so called gradings work as some teams who genuinely should be down in the lower divisions get consistently shafted and some teams who should be in much higher divisions always seem to get what they want.... Hmmmmmm possible conspiracy theory coming on here!

Not a chance Still. we played that Norwest team 3 times last year and they should be in Div 1 for sure. We have lost 3 of our better players from last year and a few more are now late 40s. We just made it to 4th spot in div 3 last year so we nominated for the same div again. You should be asking why Norwest have not asked to be in Div 1
I will reserve judgement and give you the benefit of the doubt for now as you are a decent bunch of blokes, watched you play a couple of times last year and you weren't a bad side so I will be happy to be wrong, I guess I am just a skeptic now after what Norwest did to 3's last year!!
I think we both know why Norwest didn't nominate for 1's, no guarantee of a trophy there! I am surprised they didn't try the same excuse to stay in 3's, I am sure any appeal would be upheld as they seem to be a "special circumstance" team!
Whatever happened to good old promotion and relegation, if you finish top you go up, if you finish bottom you go down, seemed a lot simpler than having to nominate. The Bob's finished rock bottom of 3's, nominated for 4th Division and ended up in 3's again!! Doesn't make a lot of sense to me!
The Divisions are simply a number and not important at all, what is important are the teams you are playing against and how you went compared to them last season. Norwest should be in 1's no question, they appealed their grading last year then the trohpy hunters blitzed Div 3 winning 18 from 18, and effectively when you look at this years Div 2 they havent gone up at all. Pendo and Winsto can feel harshly graded in 1's but in getting a 10 team Div 1 comp with a few dropouts that happens. All the Divisions are compressed this year so going up a division for finishing mid table is not a big deal.

I would not mind as much going up to Div 2 but NOT when Norwest are in the same Division. they are a Div 1 side without doubt and they are kidding themselves playing in Div 2 assuming its the same team which I have been told is. I have played against a few of the Div 1 teams for this year and Norwest would beat most of them on their day. 18 games 18 wins and conceded about 10 goals all year last year.
Agree with the sentiment re Norwest. Could you imagine how aggrieved the Toonie boys in last years Div 3 team would have felt if the initial decision to swap them with Norwest was left unchanged (i.e. Toonie up to Div 2). Toonie finished 6th in Div 3, almost 40 points behind Norwest and only 5 points ahead of Baulko. Forever here after any team who strive to be trophy hunters should be referred to as "pulling a Norwest".
Winsto will cop it on the chin and give 35/1s a crack this year. Could be a long year for us and Pendo though Pendo should have gone up a year earlier. What happened to Baulko's team that finished ahead of us last season? Is the Baulko team in 35/1 last years side or promoted from 35/2? Norwest effectively have not been promoted. They have the same teams as last season and the weakest of 35/2. Should be another easy year for them
