BH Wht 2-3 CHU Yet another narrow win against Hollywood and his mates. Had to dig deep today. A penalty each in the first half, then the second was more open. Whites 2-1 up from a scramble in the box, CHU equalised with 10 to go, then a sweet left footed strike won the game for Castle Hill. What a great time to play (5pm kick off).
Most enjoyable game today against Stanes, even though we were on the wrong end of the scoresheet (which does help our relegation prospects). We arrived at Bathurst Street half expecting the "Dog Whisperer" from Toony to be in the carpark, where he had threatened to meet us on Tuesday night. Despite not leaving Girraween Park until near 10pm on Tuesday, he never fronted......oh well.
Stands got a goal i the first half the result of the wind into our keepers face. We equalised just before half time and figured the second half breeze would aid us. Several chances later (both ironically to defenders, and taken like defenders) we were still level.
Stanes scored a winner, a minute from time - a great solo run by a fella who yesterday couldn't remember who they were playing.
Amazing that all Greystanes points this season have come from an undefeated streak against Winsto!
another very enjoyable game played in an excellent spirit. and, while we're not convinced that it was a penalty that gave baulko their equaliser, it was very nice to have a real official who did a great job. on the balance of play, 1-1 was a fair result, with both teams guilty of missing some excellent chances. we're going to put it down to the horribly bumpy pitch which, in spite of being in better condition than i've ever seen before, is still easily the worst pitch in the competition! thanks to baulko white for a great game played passionately but fairly.
word from field number 2 was that baulko black got over kellyville white 2-1, kellyville having a player sent off in the second half and, so the ref from that game tells me, the kellyville 'keeper playing a blinder.
so, by my calculations, last night's result settles the top four (but not their order). winsto black now 4 points clear of 5th (parra city on 27 - their win against greystanes on aug 2 not yet updated on compman). the winner of toonie v baulko blk will take 2nd. if they draw, winsto blk can sneak past them both if they pick up 6 points over this weekend.
unfortunately, kellyville white's win last night also brings to a halt greystanes' stunning late season charge up the ladder.
