Who's the bright spark who decided to kick off the season in the middle of the school holidays? The middle weekend of the holidays is usually the weekend off. It's going to give a kick start to some teams, who have players families who have already made holiday bookings. Teams with a first round bye will also be at an advantage. When will the draw come out, before school breaks for Easter?

I think we have to start during the school holidays because of the timing of Easter this year, otherwise you couldn't start until the weekend after Anzac day which would be the first weekend in May (too late). Usually having a bye in the first round is a huge disadvantage, but I agree it may be an advantage this year due to the timing and the availability of players. Having said this, I still don't want a bye for my team in the first round as I want to get started. I can't wait for the season to start.
Also when is the draw coming out? It seems awfully late to be 12 days from Round 1 kick off and not know if we are playing or have a bye in the first round.

Hi dodgee, do people not realise that if you have an odd number of teams you might have a bye in the first week? People want to know if this is the case. If you have an even number of teams it doesn't matter because you know you will be playing. The draw should be finalised first for teams in Age Groups / Divisions that have an odd number of teams beause the other teams know they're definitely playing in the first week.
This happens nearly every year with Granville some years back there was a Draw for the first few weeks then the final draw come out after that, and as people are saying what happens if you have a bye in the first week, seeing how this is school holidays when the first round starts. No wonder folks are trying to get the Hills thing up and going maybe Granville should get their act into gear and have the draw out 1 month before not the day before as it looks like now.

I have just started creating my own draw in case the proper one isn't out on time. I have figured out who plays who for the first 4 rounds. Took me less than 10 minutes. Just need to allocate a time and venue.
If there is already a draw for the first 4 weeks, may I ask where is it
I guess that it is with those who need to know - unfortunately that doesn't include the players or coaches or managers.
The 'draft' draw for the first 4 weeks is with all the clubs for review. Usually this includes checking that teams have been allocated the correct kickoff times etc and ensuring that Granville haven't assigned games to fields where clubs have 'in house' games already allocated.
Haven't seen a copy as yet myself but do know that my club is actively reviewing and seeking changes

I had also heard that a draft had been sent to clubs for checking, but I thought all requests for changes were already meant to have been submitted. Just want to know if I am playing the first week, as we have an uneven number of teams in my division so we could have a bye in the first week, which would be a huge downer.
Newbietowinsto, Our club received their 18 round draw today for review and comment. I understand there have been a number of teams pull out which creates a high number of changes, I assume hence the delay. Maybe you should consult with your club Competition Secretary.
