Unfortunately no, tosser. When they found out they'd have to travel ALL the way to Lidcombe, they were not a happy group of campers. Maroota is about as far as they're prepared to go for a game of kiddies soccer. They have their own comp now. And let's face it, who is more deserving than them. They will be able to play with, and among themselves, and never have to "put up with playing them" again. I hope they put their results online for all to see. It'll be super interesting to see how last year's div 2 6th place goes when up against last year's div 1 winners. But 5 years of pain is a small price to pay. The area has been crying out for their own comp for a long time, and thus deserve it. Viva le Hills comp !!!! And all the Pajero's too !
Actually, I think the omission of all the hills teams has made this particular age stronger. We still have to drive to Kellyville, but hey, it's only once a year ! All just part of what we gladly do for our kids. Sorry . . . what SOME of us gladly do for our kids . . .

Hey there maninblack . . . . I'm taking a wild guess at who you are, so we'll keep this friendly, but 2 things. 1/ So what happened to all the quality football shfa was going to offer ? Why were these kids Forced to go to PL ? And just how strong is this hills premier league ? Does it even count as a fair dinkum Premier League comp ? Does Maroota have a PL1 squad ? And 2/ While "Developing" into an unknown, unsanctioned "premier league" comp that is forcing u/19 teams into it so as to make up some numbers is a wonderful thing, don't get too far ahead of yourself. IIRC, many of your team-mates would be OK in a watered down "premier league" comp. That's not development.(said in my best Croc Dundee impersonation).
Tosser, All good fun mate. Please don't even think we are early favourites. I hear County, Merrylands and Parra are the teams to watch out for. And besides, hasn't everyone's team won the comp a few years back ?
Fishin. Hills have over 7000 players registered so they will be fine thanks
allgood. player numbers are the be all, and end all criteria for the following groups of people: Used car salesmen, Local papers, Local members, and the anti-vaccination type people of the local area. Oh, and chest-beating clubs who want to have the biggest numbers. And the meek, PC left. Surely you have been around enough to know that numbers are just 1 small part of the puzzle ? First thoughts . . . if 7000 have signed up, many will be new to the sport . . lots in lower divisions . . . the big clubs will DEMAND first division comps . . . where will the competitive opposition come from ?
Anyway, that figure is a good start. I hope that the hills comp hits the ground running, and doesn't destroy kids sporting fun for the sake of someone's ego and "5 years of pain". It's done now and it ain't gonna change. Good luck.

Being new to all this can someone tell me how Fairfield, where Coptic United FC (apparently kicked out of both Bankstown and Southern Districts for violence) and who train in Fairfieldhave managed to get Fairfield as an outpost of Hills Council, was it a Papal Dispensation or a Papal Bull?
Post by afishinmission on Mar 12, 2016 21:20:40 GMT 10
And to think I wasn't even going to mention Coptic MMA. Oops, FC. Maybe the directors of shfa were not able to find out about Coptic's history. You know, being unsanctioned and so not privy to the wealth of knowledge at the disposal of nearly every other soccer comp in Australia. How many tag teams.... sorry, teams... does Fairfield /hills district Coptic have ? How much fun will they have when they find out they are free to play their distinct brand of football without any wider consequences ? Abdullah the Coptic butcher, serving a 5 year FNSW ban, will start once again in his favoured position of striker. Striker !! . . . did you see what I did there ? But FNSW will soon learn it's lesson. "The numbers can't be ignored" according to the shfa facebook. The connection between Fairfield and the hills is self-explanatory. It goes like this. . . . Fairfield is next to a suburb called Canley Vale. Vale is another word for valley. A valley is an area between 2 hills. Canley has a lot of the same letters in it's name as Castle.
Anyway, enough baiting me about shfa. I'm not the Messiah, I'm a naughty boy. OKO will be on here in a flash. He has a medic alert pendant that beeps whenever more than 1 person replies to my posts. Back to the 21's. Somebody tell me more about this development business . . . The early word is that the 13 teams will be in 1 division. There will be lots of things done differently especially this year, because of the disruption the anti-travel lot caused.

The latest word is that there may be 2 divisions in the 21's after all. 8 teams in firsts, and I'm guessing at 7 and the bye in 2nds. The next 7 days should reveal all. I've done the unofficial Fishin' gradings, and here is div 1, based on last year's results: Ermo Black Guildford Lidcombe Merrylands Black Merrylands White Parra City Pendle Hill ( pre-season favourites ) Winsto
LW is busy trying to blend 8 new players into the team. Had a couple of trials with mixed results. Always hard for the early games a new team plays together.
Yeah, BJ. That's what a little bird told me. Hope it's correct. A 13 team single division comp would be clunky at best. Did you like the "pre-season favourites" tag ? Have you managed to keep your 17/1 squad intact ? I only ever saw them play 1 game, but was impressed by their play.
afishinmission the majority of our team have returned. I don't know about the pre season favourite bit as I don't know much about many of the other teams, however our aim is still the same - play quality team football, win or lose. It will be good to play a lot of new teams and the boys are looking forward to the challenge.

BJ, Was just messing about with the favourites tag ... Yeah, it's a great time of the year with all the anticipation of new teams and who plays better than who. It's a return into GDSFA for us . . . after a few years away, we have 3 of our u/10 team playing together 9 years down the track. So for us, it's a whole new deal. We don't know any of the teams . . . who is strong, how they play, etc. The fun will be in the findin' out.

Well the draw is out and it turns out the little bird wasn't quite on the mark . . . but the fishin' gradings were damn close. In a stroke of irony, we have 2 clubs that have "Hills" in their names. It reeks of OKO extracting revenge.

So it starts this week with one of the Merrylands teams with the bye:
Winston Hills vs Pendle Hill - I believe its the same Pendo team that won the 17/s last season? I think they should win Ermington vs Lidcombe - Lidcombe will be at the top I believe and they'll get the win this weekend Merrylands B. vs Parra City - 18's Grand Finalists vs 17s Grand Final Winners, dont know too much about either but it should be a good game I'm thinking draw
