Close comp this year- fair to say the only two teams that will struggle to win many games are Auburn White and Guildford. Market Holroyd Black 3/1 Greystanes Black , Holroyd White 4/1 Auburn Black , Ermo 5/1 Greystanes White 8/1 Dundas 15/1
Axe you are being too modest this is the real market
Ermington > 3/1 and favourite Holroyd White , Holroyd Black , Greys Black > 4/1 Auburn Black > 5/1 Greys White > 7/1 Dundas > 12/1 Rest > write your own ticket
This game started with a bang when we scored from the kickoff without Dundas touching the ball and we were up 4-0 including a missed penalty after 30 minutes, the Dundas boys regained their composure after halftime and battled hard and scored early in the second half to give themselves hope but we settled it with 20 minutes left with a well taken goal by our striker. Well done to Dundas on not turning it up after our fast start.
Guildford 2 Ermo 1 Guildford had a really good team and it made us wonder how they had lost most games by big margins. We only had 9 players and had to put one of our injured player in goals to make it 10, they were up two nil at half time and we won the second half 1-0. Now..... we would like to win the game on the field but I think they will be losing this game because of illegal players. Last week they forfeited but today they had 13 players and another two arrived for the second half to make it 15 players, the two that came late did not look like they belong to their team different colour socks etc- one of our players then realised one of the late players had number 13 but one of their players was already playing with number 13 so when this was raised with the referee - the question was asked what his name was and what number did he have on the team sheet, they quickly took him off (so he only played like 15mins) and he quickly got changed and left because they knew we were on to them. Little do Guildford know the we actually know the player from summer comp and was not on the team sheet , so we took photos of him and have written a full report. What makes me angry is that we only had 10 players they had a full team plus reserves and feel they still have to play illegal players ??
Rangers white 6 v Stanes 1. Well done to rangers keeper; saves a penalty which was unfortunately taped in but saved the team from seeing double digits. Played in good spirits and only 2-1 at half time to rangers . Second hand different story . Rangers out away 3 great goals and a pen. Unfortunately no 31 and a few other become tools and just wanted to carry one. Learn to lose gracefully . No real winners at the end of the game except a nice cold beer
Seeing as it appears we're now doing match reviews with rose coloured glasses, here's another take on the Stanes v Holroyd game.
Good tough first half, but Holroyd complained every time the ball didn't bounce their way. It's probably fortunate we didn't win the toss or they'd have complained about that too. The poor ref had had enough and even sent one of their guys for 10 in the bin for dissent. Here's a tip fellas - when a bloke stands in to ref a game so we can all play, don't abuse him. He made the least mistakes of anyone on the field yesterday.
Second half Holroyd came out strongly and put away some good goals, it seemed they may also have changed into skirts at half time too. Never before have i heard so much complaining - from any team in this comp. It's Over 45's FFS. You're up by 3 or 4 goals and constantly whinging. Then one of them decides loose elbows are a good idea and when one of our boys got fed up and decided to return fire and you'd think someone shot Bambi. So many salty tears...
BTW - The biggest "tool" in your team had to leave the field to dry his eyes just before full time and wouldn't even come back on to shake hands after the game. Our boys had to approach him instead. Just as you can lose gracefully you can win gracefully too ? Good sportsmanship doesn't cost anything...
It's a shame as traditionally games against this Holroyd team have always been good. Most of them are very decent fellas and it's unfortunate that things got a bit ugly towards the end.
Seeya in Rd 2, hopefully we'll have our proper keeper back on the park and the scoreline is a little closer. My back is sore from picking the ball out of the net...
LOL ! Mate, appreciate the sentiment but anytime the opposition put 6 past you, you've still had a pretty tough day at the office !
Speaking of stories, if this forum was a library your match report would be filed in the fiction section for sure.
Did you not have a player (Hi AB !) sent to the bin ? Did #23 not go off after a massive sook and not come out on field and shake hands after the game ? Did #19 not try and pick a fight with the bloke least likely in our team to ever fire up ? Has #5 had heaps of fluids today to replace the tears spilt literally everytime he got tackled in the second half ?
Your mob are a good side. Just concentrate on playing the game and let the ref do their job. We never have issues with dirty play, as we don't get into that crap unless we're copping the same. Fab is probably the only bloke with a legitimate complaint about a late tackle - and yet he dusted himself off, and just played even more determined / harder and better. Just as it should be...
What do you mean Greystoke? It's teams like Guildford that have ruined the Granville Comp! turn up with players who aren't registered. This Club has done it for years and finally someone calls them on it and you have the whinge. Poor form Mate
Well done Axe on exposing the cheating, I dare say if Guildford had gotten away with it this time they would have done it again in the future ,looking forward to our match this Saturday always a close game well contested ,the Holroyd White v Greys Black game should be a ripper as well!

Gotta say, we've had to play short because of injuries / players unavailable plenty of times over the past few years. It's pretty poor form bringing in unregistered players, but not the first time i've seen it. Kinda glad they got called out for it actually...
Good tussle at George Kendall today with Ermington dominating possession but we held firm after a couple of early corners to Ermo almost produced a result striking the crossbar twice ,it was a tense match with both teams going for it but was played hard but fair. Ermington are looking like they are warming to the task and will be hard to beat in the second round.
auburn scored inside the first 2 minutes and the game never really improved for greystanes from there. injuries and other absences kept the greystanes' bench to a bare minimum and it showed as auburn played well to keep a comfortable hold on the match throughout the 80 minutes, putting 2 away in each half. refereeing was outstanding which always helps make a game better as well. well done to auburn - hopefully we can get players back to fitness and do enough to get another crack at playing you at the pointy end of the season.
Ermo 5 Dundas 0 Important game for us today as they were above us and beat us in the first round. We found our mojo scored 5 and could have been more hitting the post 3 times.Glad we have the bye next week as we have many carrying injuries- except Dundalk they had 18 players today 😁
unfortunately for auburn, they started the game with 8 players, including a goalkeeper with a dodgy hamstring and, after 10 minutes, he had to go off because of that, though another player did arrive to keep their numbers at 8. in spite of the imbalance, the game was played with great spirit and auburn never threw in the towel. the ref didn't have much to do but what he had to do he did well. thanks to auburn for their excellent attitude of getting out there for everyone to enjoy their afternoon.

Holroyd Black 0 Holroyd White 0
Good derby match today at Guildford West Sportsground it was a fierce battle well refereed, the Whites probably just shaded us for possession but we had our chance when we were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes left only to be denied by a great save from the keeper all in all a fair result on the day.
