I know we need as many teams as possible to make the PL work but Kewpies FFS !!! How many times are we going to let them play & bring there crap with them? PH have appointed a new coach (not sure who) and he is talking big about a PL squad so maybe has some players from elsewhere coming with him.
Agree on the Kewpies, they could get players but history speaks for itself - maybe its last years All Age with the old Prems side? Any word on Rydalmere - having the new synthetic pitch will be great for Granville. Merrylands look to have moved to Waratah. Should be a decent season with 8 and maybe 10 teams if we can dream.
I wouldn't expect to play on the synthetic pitch at Rydalmere. it will be for there NPL teams only
Not sure how true this rumour is but apparently there is talk of Friday night games for Premier League at Rydalmere this year. Happened a few times in 2016 to fit games in. Again, just what I’ve heard, not sure how true it is.
Can tell you, our squad would have walked away from a single team premier league. Boys wanted to play together in a squad and not have to seperate the side.
So what youd walk away from a squad to play in a single team?....There just aint enough to go around anymore unfortunately. 2 games on a Saturday isnt fair on anyone.
We were looking at making the hard decision at moving the squad to another association to play squad football. Thankfully we haven’t had to do this as we love playing at Greystanes! We don’t want to play single team, simple as that.
I Hope you are right Chosen and the comp stands up this year. the only problem with squad based as Counter says is clubs that end up with 20 players by end of the season and players having to play 2 games each week. It quickly gets ugly.
Some clubs who have said they are in I think will struggle with numbers form the get go. Pendo look like one of these with the squad from last few seasons falling apart. Not sure where they will get new players from but a new Head Coach may be bringing a squad with him??
33 players is the max you can register right? If each side has some injuries/players away etc it can get ugly for some teams but who knows. Ive heard a few will have squads but keeping teams separate to some degree.
Squad based football at grass roots level is a joke. Firstly only a few clubs have enough players to fill the squads and if last year is an example you could not call it Premier League quality (bar one or 2 teams). Squad based is more about the ego of a few clubs. Counter is right that many of those players who were playing 2 games were suffering multiple soft tissue injuries and I don't blame them for walking away. If Granville can run a 6 or 8 team comp good luck to them but don't enter an inferior and understrength squad just to satisfy your club's delusion of grandeur.
