got 2 diff senerios (did not occur these are theoretical) 1. defender trys to make a clearence from within the six yard box, strikes the attackers hand(s) (but not deliberate) and the ball goes in the back of the net. goal or FK???
2. defender puts hand up to call for offside to ref the cross comes across and strikes the hand whilst straight up (still from calling for offside) once again not deliberate but not in a natural position free kik or play on (assume wasnt offside)
k last question, going on the 1st senario say the attker saw wht the defender was gonna do and covered his face with hands (so being un natural) and then a goal results. also in any on field play where a player covers their face or any part of they body is that deliberate/un natural or is this ITOOTR
In my opinion. If this was a 9yo then play on. But for a a sen or a say 16yo, in the same time it takes to cover their face with their hands, they could have moved their head down and header the ball or move their face out of the way. Maybe a natural reaction to cover the face but still a deliberate handball.
Natural reactions must be trained to react according to LOTG after many years of football ;D
I understand what has been said regarding the arm protecting the throat in a wall being deliberate handball..... I just don't understand why EPL standard players regularly do this and hence risk penalties or further free kicks.
Lucas Neill is obviously ready to protect his throat.... shouldn't the kicker just aim there? Do they perhaps consider that this is a natural position if someone is only 10m away and kicking a missile?
1, it may take the same time buts its about instinct most of the time and anon got it spot on, whn u got a missile coming at u instinict is not to bend down and head it back more to save your head. although having said that i do see wht ur saying regarding the difference between the age groups.
with the photo...i think it lies....instinct is definitely true...but being professional football player per photo could mean different things to different persons....the motion of the ball and players hand/arm is the decider......
just wondering what happened in the photo...did it hit Lucas and if so did the ref gave another DK?
