bunga you and your protected boy can throw off, it was ugly and the field was rubbish, granville leaves the prem final till last and by that time the field is at its worst. granville comp is a great comp with great clubs.the other let down for the final were the 2 10 year old assistants for the final, making multiple mistakes.
bunga no they are not the 2 best teams in the comp but they can grind out wins. auburn and siralex congrats.
i think joeys have some very good players but some of them dont get a chance to play first grade through politics lidcombe W have a couple of good players they need a few more solid players to compete. dundas are heading in the right direction.starting to play some football.good coaching. Auburn will always be ok they would dominate more if they cut out that big kick rubbish cause they can play. oh and i would like to thank the st joeys coach for taking joey off yesterday as he was starting to cause us some trouble so thanks for that,,,great tactics also thanks for not putting mick on as he ripped us appart in last years GF.also i thought is was not fare that you cut your goal keeper that played ressies all year.they were minoe prems so he must of done something right
This is my opinion and i don't give a toss what you think
thanx stan fair opinion on us,we need to play more football so we can dominate more teams like yours. well done on your effort especially on the effort against us,but our ressies want their title back next year.
What was delivered on the day was not perfect football but what final on the world stage in the last 20 years has been so? They are always cagey affairs and usually the fitter or more tactically adept team comes out on top.
In this sense Baulko and Auburn were evenly matched. I thought though Baulko had the better of the play in playing time, they just needed a few players with more quality up front rather than only speed as a weapon.
One of the reasons the game was poor was that the refereeing was poor. Apparently, that was the head of the ref's association. There were many tackles which were not penalised and what was penalised was backchat. No. 14 from Baulko got sent off for backchat (2 yellows). No. 7 from Auburn should have received his marching orders much earlier for some incredible rash challenges that if they connected would have put the player concerned in hospital.
It was good to see "Messi" come on for Auburn, No. 18 from Ressies. Only his physicality probably prevented him from playing first grade but a prodigious talent who nearly scored in extra time when he came on.
Amazing how the penalties turned out, I wanted to leave much earlier but it was like watching a bad movie, had to see what happened at the end.
Totally agree with playerfan about the officials, that game should of ended up a seven on seven contest. I do however have to disagree about the UGLY finals comment. I do agree finals are tactical but not ugly. These teams couldn't even string three passes together, there was nothing tactical about the match whatsoever. Soccer is supposed to be graceful and technical, but these teams had more thugs than my local rugby side.
I'm not questioning either teams effort, just the actual playing standard and terrible image the so called highest level portrays. Also don't you worry, my son won't be part of that garbage in the near future.
I wasn't the only person watching the game who thought the standard was laughable. The majority of the people watching were making the same statements.
Well if what you say is true, thuggery is rife in your competition. That wasn't a soccer match, both sides were thugs. So I rest my case.
Well done to the winners on the weekend and to all others thanks for a great season.
Toony will be back again next season as we strive for physical immortality one more time.
Believe it or not we only have the 2 retirees in 2010, so collectively we might even be older next year. In saying this we would be more than happy to take any young pups on loan from some of you boys with the big nurseries
I think our collective age says a lot about our squad and our culture. No-one wants to leave.....
Firstly I'd like to Congratulate Auburn going back to back, good stuff boys. Id like to congratulate our boys for having a wow of a season and putting the Joeys club back on the map. We did win the challenge shield which is a great honour and a recognition of having the best squad in the league. ( which I think the club should build on ). Don't worry thatsme I have the medal to prove it. Granville did award it to us . .
Mate congratulations on your win, but I do think your out of line to criticize our reserves coach. He had to make some tough decisions on the day and credit to him he made them. It's easy to criticize in hindsight but he won the minor premiership by 6 points and he beat a pretty good Auburn side quiet comfortably in the semi the week before ( even though it went to penalties ), so he did have a working formula they controlled the entire match. Other than a 20minute period in the grandfinal ( In which you guys scored 2 goals ),I think the Joeys pushed your predominately first grade side to the limit. Also I know Auburn and sir Alex will agree here I actually don't remember mick carving you guys up in the grandfinal. Last but not least I know we have some quality players in reserves grade but don't just insinuate they couldn't make first grade because of politics. Attitude, training, form, playing style, tactical know how, all comes into play. You are experienced enough to know that Stanny boy. Our reserves grade coach done a super job. I've been around football for a while and this man DEFINITELY knows the game.
Heard your brother was the man of the match? send my congratulations to him, couldn't of happened to a better bloke. Also for the record thanks to my challenge shield medal I do have the full set Now. . Oops except actually winning Champions of Champions get out there and make sure you get that one. Good luck with it. Also if you need a keeper? sign me up I'm pretty handy in goals. . But head to head you do have it over me a.t.m. 1 draw 1 win to you ( even though I was disadvantaged. ), but it is in the record books, so that I gotta make up. . Do you think those Indian tournaments count?. If so get me into a team AGAINST you.
Mate strangely enough I agree with you, the standard of our comp. was way below par this season for one reason or another, but instead of coming on here and bad mouthing everybody you should of just done the smart thing and grabbed your son and left early. . Just a thought.
Bunga I think if the officiating was alot better the bad tackles would have been stopped early in the game, whereas yellows were given for backchat and the guy who recieved a second yellow got sent for kicking the ball away. I do agree the Grand final did not reflect "our" style of football but thats what happens when you dont want to lose. No excuses though.
Bigboss, I am beating you heads up, but dont you think semis count for more.... and if Mick isnt happy let STAN have him at kellyville.
BB i see you mention mick but what about the other 2 i mention you keeper that didnt see game time and what about joey getting taken off after having the only shoot on goal he only played 15 minuts,,,but hah mate im not having ago im thanking you boys. oh an please dont go there with the first grade players playing in ressies ,
we had 22 players this year and every single player that QUALIFIED for ressies played their last 5 game in ressies then backed up and played first grade.
Do you guys out there really think we dont know your players or watch what is going on.
so BB when you say you pushed our first grade around pretty easy indicating that you had no first grade players playing well as i said lets not go there.
This is my opinion and i don't give a toss what you think
Can someone please give Bunga back his $20 he paid to get into Garside....Really mate, the standard of our PL is on par with Super League .....have you watched any SL lately. The only difference is that the SL players get paid and probably train 2-3 time per week. I think I would be correct in saying that most PL squads train once per week.
BigBoss, what a unique collection of medals you have....3 medals with 3 different clubs....your a foster child....because it appears your not worth adopting. You only won the shield on goals from Auburn and you had 2 first grade squads and you class that as a good season. Everyone knows the players you had in the Ressie were Joey's first grade for the last 3-5 years...ooops except for when those blokes from Merrylands via Pendo Shafted them. For such a nice bunch of blokes I can't believe they let themselves get shafted 2 out of the last 3 years.
Yes you are 1 up against me. . But semi's are just another game I even count training sessions. .
I didn't know you wanted details. . That goal keeper that played on the weekend was deserving of his place. When our first grade keeper got injured against Toony early in the season, he stepped up and took his place. During his stint in first grade he was brilliant, hence our mid season revival. When our regular keeper came back he was relegated to reserves. So he was the second best keeper at the club. When it came to the semis, our reserves coach actually played that keeper that sat out the Grand final. he felt he had to be fair to the guy. Our second best keeper, had to sit out. So it makes sense to play him in the GF. Now the Joey substitution, Joey has the talent definitely, but his training application wasn't there all year. Yes I agree with you he did look the most dangerous, but the coach replaced him with one of our leading goal scorers and most consistently dangerous player, all who also can create a lot of goals. Would of I pulled Joey off, probably not, but it's easy to criticize. Our coach done so well the whole season I'm not willing to do that. Also Stanny boy, I aint having a go at you about cheating, I know the players would of qualified. But we both know they are first graders. I don't care how many ressies games they've played. Last of all YES WE DIDN"T HAVE ANY FIRST GRADERS IN OUR TEAM. NOT ONE. If you know just one, please name him for me. We do have a couple of players that are capable of stepping up, but not one of them was a first grader. Just a very good reserves grade side.
You are a funny one. It is a hell of an achievement, You can call me good old Glenn Lazarus. Success at every club I play at. I'm thinking of joining the wallabies for next years Rugby world cup, help them out there as well. Looks like your a bit of a Joeys hater mate, and to tell you the truth who cares.. THE CLUB president is happy, our coach is happy, I'm happy. , stans even happy, and for Auburn and sir alex a picture tells a thousand words. Also for the record those good old merrylands/ pendo players didn't even qualify for semi final football at this club so do your research. Seems like your a bit of a sad bloke.( are you sure Tony didn't axe you at the beginning of the year ). I was taking you seriously until you compared our league to super league. Your kidding yourself mate. I've been around the premier league for years and this years standard has been the worst yet. I'd like to ask a few boys who have been around a while that question. Do YOU GUYS THINK THE STANDARD IS BETTER OR WORST? ( I know reserve grades improved I'm talking strictly first grade here. )
