Last year's 45/1's from Pendo (Premiers) are this year's white team and a new team is the Pendo blacks. So I expect the results are correct. The repeat of last year's Grand Final was played at McCoy Park with the result being 1-1. Winston Hills Black vs Pendle Hill White.

Esky where are you ? Thought you'd be on here by now, bragging about the brilliant equaliser you slotted home to put you in the Gummys no. 1 goal scorer position, or are you still celebrating Guess i'll have to report on the match Yes, after the long wait the draw finally came out and what a season kick off 2009 GF replay, these two teams locked horns four times last year and there was not a struck match between them in any game, would the stalemate continue in 2010. Game started in pretty warm conditions, first 5-10 mins saw the Gummys, with plenty of posession and good passing game, able to make a few shots on goal forcing Pendo keeper into some good saves. Next 10 had the game go into the usual midfield battle with the Pendo boys starting to look a bit underdone. The Gummys with their new marquis signing were getting the better of the game and missed a couple of chances that would cost us in the end. Late in the half with all bar one Gummy field player going forward Pendo got a break which was finished of well to see them take a 1-0 lead into half time though tiring quickly. Second half first 5-10 mins took its toll on Pendo and the Gummys were mounting plenty of raids on their goal, some very good saves keeping them in the match. Then the unthinkable happened, a high cross from out wide had Esky set to head in the equaliser but the ball dipped so severely he just managed to readjust and half-volley it home instead. Pendo now struggling Gummys having most of the ball, another ball from out wide saw Marquis Milt free on the far post but unable to control his header, this along with his effort off the crossbar in the first half earnt him the Gummys Gump award for the week. Final score 1-1, good clean game, lots of banter and laughs looking forward to more. Anyone from Pendo want to put your view of the game forward

Shataraw, re: the apologies, it was almost embarassing...! I DID appreciate your sentiments though.
As I said to you after the game, that was my first ever red, and I started in the U9s. I looked up the law out of interest afterwards (I said to you that I was aware of it), and interestingly there is no mention of being the last defender, as I always thought it was. The FIFA definition of obvious goal-scoring opportunity is actually quite vague, and open to interpretation.
I do think that the fact that law can produce such a result is a little farcical though. Your decision was not incorrect, but the law doesn't really give you any lattitude. I think that in that situation the law should allow for a yellow card where there is no obvious intent.
Anyway, buy me a beer if we come across eachother again!

OKO, I don't think you read my post very well. I never said intent mattered. I merely said perhaps it should before a red card is MANDATED. I understand the rule as it stands, and the decision was correct under that rule.
I thought I'd been clear on that.
As far as the criteria goes, there is NONE, just guidelines as to what aspects the ref should base his judgement on. For instance, the referee must take into account the number of defenders in the immediate area. If it were a criteria, it would say how many, and where they are in relation to the play. Then it would be 'clear'

Auburn 2 v Baulko 3 - Was a good friendly Saturday afternoon in the park. All a good bunch of blokes. Enough chances to make it an AFL score but solid keeping by Auburn kept the result close. The goalie was a man mountain, the immovable object, a pillar of strength. Actually, a target for all Baulko shots.
Looking forward to another fun season. Good luck boys. Catchya on the park for beers and a footy match prior.

Thanks for the game review AllTapedUp. We've got them this weekend. We'll have to devise a tactic for the Man-Mountain! Actually, first we have to teach our forwards how to aim between the pegs!! (just kidding boys...) Look forward to that beer...
Well I had a 50% win with my tips. I picked Baulko and the Ville to win but got the two Winsto games wrong. Here are my tips for next week;
Winsto WHT V Auburn - we have learned a valuable lesson from last week, pass the ball to your own player. After we have an intense lesson at training this week I believe we will show our true colors - Winsto 3-0 Stanes V Winsto BLK - if the call for backup was not replied to I think the Winsto Blacks will run away with this one 10+-0 The Ville V Baulko - both winners last week but I think Baulko might pull this one out of the bag 1-0 Pendo WHT V Pendo BLK - can't get a more local derby then this one. I believe the Blacks will be a bit stronger on the day - 2-0
Yep Granville has got the scores the wrong way round, it should be Winsto Blk 1- Pendo Wht 1
A Grand Final Replay what a way to start the season and yes I would have to say Winsto had more of the play and more scoring opportunities but Pendo scrambled well and did enough to hold on for a draw.
The game like the 4 last year was played in great spirit and I think there is alot of respect between the two sides, lets hope the rest of the comp is the same.
Lastly good luck to all teams for the year, may the best team win and remember we all play for the mateship and after game drink.
