Hi piggybank, I came back from overseas a week or so before the start of the season to be informed that my son's team, the grand-finalist last year in div 2, is competing in div 3 this year. When I asked the club officials, they gave me the same reasons that balltofeet already stated here.
I totally agree that LW team would have done ok in div 2.

Mo A few years ago back your club assembled a 10/3 team which if the coach or grader had any idea were clearly above division 3 (should have been at least div 2. as it turned out they remained in div 3 and went on to win every game by an average of 10 goal or more winning the right through to the GF and another landslide win there too. Sometimes there are people out there that think winning a 10/3 or 11/3 competition is their biggest achievement in their lives. Sad really.
As a 45 year old it is now over 40 years since I first pulled on the boots & I was lucky enough to have been able to put quite a few in the back of the net over the years. I am also very lucky to be able to remember quite a few of those goals & a few of them when I was 10 years old or younger & not how much money I earnt in a year for scoring !!
Pendle Hill 7 v St. Josephs 2 Winston Hills 3 v Castle Hill United BLK 2 Ermington United 1 v Merrylands SFC 3 Lidcombe Waratah 4 v Castle Hill United WHT 0 OLOR 2 v Baulkham Hills 2
Good luck to all tomorrow but more to Winsto !!
Good to see some other posters on this thread & not just me talking to myself.
It has been a long time coming but finally someone from my household managed to secure all 3 points in a match v C Hill. And it was the Black team to boot. Well done Leeds jnr jnr. Not only that but the other C Hill team lost as well. Not a good day for the Green club. Well done to Lidcombe for another win. If OLOR lost or managed a draw then Winsto will have moved up into 4th spot & hold their fate in their own hands. With matches v Merrylands, St Josephs & C Hill W (teams all below Winsto on the table) they can not afford a slip up if they want to play finals football.

Interesting results to be had from last week which results in realistically most of the top 4 spots (and order) still on offer with CH Bk loosing and Pendo drawing with St Joey's. This week all the top 5 play teams below on the table with the exception CH Bk and OLOR. A loss to OLOR could have them out of the 4 while a loss to CH Bk could see them on equal points with Winsto (should they win). G/Diff will be hurt Winsto if points are level with any of the teams in the 5. Suffice to say no team can afford a slip up.
Oh, and for the record, I do agree that the LW team should have stayed in Div 2 from last year. definately not defending the decision that was made.

Three rounds to go & it all to play for. I must say though that even if Winsto do not make the top four it will be a successful year for them as they can finish no lower than 5th & coming from last place last year the boys can be proud of themselves.
Whether LW should be in Div 3 is now irrelevant but how good would the fight for the top spot be if they weren't.

Yes, you take LW out and effectively any of the top 4 would be feel they had as good a shot as any for the top spot. Basically one game in it plus change.
Although I would like to think that the LW boys have shown enough this year to be confident of going all the way, as I have said before any team on the day can come away with a win. Nothing is ever certain in this game. World cup is a prime example.
I have to think that going on the games I have seen of Winsto, they have a pretty good chance of making the 4. Could even be this weekend.......
It could also be argued that Winsto do not deserve to get into the semis as after home & away we were 1 point out of the 4 but you have to play by the rules & it is still all to play for, for the boys. Hopefully the round can go ahead tomorrow & the boys get a result although it will be tough v Merrylands.
Merrylands SFC 1 v Winston Hills 3 Baulkham Hills 0 v Lidcombe Waratah 6 St. Josephs Ermington United ** FIELD CLOSED **-Rydalmere Park No. 1 Castle Hill United WHT Pendle Hill ** FIELD CLOSED **-Fred Caterson Reserve No. 3 Castle Hill United BLK OLOR ** FIELD CLOSED **-Fred Caterson Reserve No.
Maybe some of these matches can be rescheduled elsewhere, I hope so.
Good luck to all on the weekend but more to Winsto !!
Winsto had a big 7-0 victory today over St Josephs. Would be good to hear if anyone knows any news on some of the other matches today. All the boys can do is keep winning & hoping a result goes their way today or next week.
Then check out whom & when & where Teams 4 & 5 are playing. Teams 2 & 3 should win comfortably.
08:30 Pendle Hill Ermington United Binalong Oval No. 3 09:30 Merrylands SFC Baulkham Hills Merrylands Park No. 3 10:00 St. Josephs OLOR Rydalmere Park No. 1 10:20 Castle Hill United BLK Lidcombe Waratah Fred Caterson Reserve No. 4 10:31 Castle Hill United WHT Winston Hills Fred Caterson Reserve No. 3
Then check out the scores from Round 9
Baulkham Hills 4 2 Merrylands SFC OLOR 3 0 St. Josephs Forfeit: St. Josephs Ermington United 0 3 Pendle Hill Winston Hills 1 3 Castle Hill United WHT (Winsto's goal scored with the very last kick of the match) Lidcombe Waratah 1 0 Castle Hill United BLK
How did Granville know at the start of the year that this was going to be the case for the final round. Well done !!
Well done to LW for blitzing the comp. I hope there are some competitive matches in the semis.
PH 7 v EU 0 M 2 v BH 2 St 0 v OL 6 CHB 1 v LW 3 (we hope) CHW 1 v WH 3 (we hope)
Good luck to all teams this weekend but much, much more to Winsto !! Go The Mighty Winsto 11/3's.
I'm glad I got you to look this up today ona. This has taken ages !!
Well Winsto were outplayed again today by a team 11 points behind them on the table. I can not understand why Castle Hill White were so far out of the 4. Winsto had the better of the first quarter of the match & took a 1 goal lead with a nice strike but were unable to continue the pressure & C Hill came back into the match & levelled before half time. C Hill B were not actually playing on the field beside us but I knew one of their parents so we were keeping each other up to date. Winsto's coaching staff were informed that the win was required as C Hill B were level 1-1 with LW, but tactics did not change & no urgency shown to get 1 of best players back on the pitch. Ahh well. A good through ball saw C Hill W put another one away & that was it. Winsto had some half chances but it finished 2-1 to C Hill W.
So that is it for another year. Leeds jnr jnr had fun but did say on the way home that he may play tennis next year. We shall wait & see. Summer indoor may get him keen again.
The highlight of the day was being on loud speaker on the mobile to the C Hill B team & parents & letting them know that they had progressed to the finals. The cheering was deafening.

As a LW official on the day, it was funny to hear the updates towards the end of our match being there was about a 10 min difference between our start and the game up top. At the culmination of the game, the word spread to the CH players that it was still 2 - 1 up top and baring a Winsto win they would be progressing.
I will 100% agree with the cheering as we had walked to our cars and were about to leave while the CH mob were all huddled around the phone. They were quite some ways off however we also knew when the news came in as it was Sydney 2000 Olympic bid all over again. All it was missing was Juan Antonio Samaranch uttering the words.
Good luck to all who made the finals and thanks to those who played hard all season who may have missed out in what I believe was a good spirited season.
