I see tha Michael Ballacks lawyer is thinking of sueing Boateng for the tackle that has shattered any chance of Ballack playing in South Africa. The fact that Boateng plays for Ghana who are also in the same group as Australia, Serbia and Germany makes you wonder wheteher it was intentional or an accident.

Bollocks to him! This is football not lawn bowls. All footballers live with the fact they 'may' get hurt on the field - it's part & parcel of the game. I don't think Boateng ever set out to seriously hurt Bollock!! Unfortunate for MB, cos I wouldn't wish that on any footballer - to miss the greatest show on earth! Get over it MB!
It really comes down to intentions. Yeah its not lawn bowls and there is always a chance that a player may get injured in a tackle or a collision and that's life. But me thinks any player who intentionally sets out to put another player out of a game (park football or world cup) should be banned for life in any sport. Unfortunately its hard to prove intention.

.... and yes (as a former referee) it is very hard to establish 'intent' - comes down to experience and a good knowledge (of having played at a similar level). I encourage all to take up refereeing at some point of their careers! I think most would agree
