Actually, there were 3 teams in the 10/1's Blacktown comp in good form last year. The other 2 were Seven Hills United and Riverstone. Glenwood did look good most of the the season narrowly missing the minor premiership in the final round to Seven hills, who also went on to win the GF against Glenwood.
An interesting question about the difference in the Blacktown and Granville comps. Having been in both - can say that Granville overall are stronger. However the top sides in Blacktown were well drilled sides and would have been competitive against most Granville sides. What seems to have come about with the Blacktown metro 11's is that many of the standout players in the comp have given Blacktown Metro a miss this year (with 1 Glenwood player even going to Granville metro, others from Glenwood going to Parra Eagles, 1 Seven hills player going to PNU 13s, another to SD and the rest of Seven Hills staying with Seven Hills - some playing the 12s this season) . I don't believe clubs are keeping kids back in the name of "D". At this age it is still very important to find a great coach, to be having fun and to be getting as much time on the park as possible. We were told that if we don't take our child to metro they will have no chance to play SYL or PYL. Right or wrong - I've heard all the arguments "to metro or not to metro" - it's really whats right for the individual kid. Our child decided for himself that metro was not what he wanted and we respected that.
Anyway, this is a Granville forum, so I thank you all for an opportunity to comment and will not hijack it with too much Blacktown talk. :-)
Good Luck Granville metro - I'm sure you will do very well this year.
Quick response - I had a boy at Seven Hills last year and he is now playing SYL. I have a younger one playing Metro so we will see how he goes in a couple of years. Great coaching is what you are after.
Now back on track - I have heard that Parra City have lost 8 players and coach. Are they going to go ok in Div 1?

Played our first trial today against 7 Hills United. We had a good run, unfortunately it was only a 3/4 size pitch and cramped the game up a bit, and causing our players to bunch a bit. We played OK, definately some work to do, but considering we only had one training session, we did well to win 4-2. Seven Hills have some skill, they play a nice game but i think their size may let them down throughout the year. Our passing and positional play needs to improve as we had many holes on the field today. We may have got the goals today, but next time we may not.
Looking forward to the season.
CurveB/OT, have you played any trials yet.
Also, does anyone know where i can get some U11 Div 6 players, we only have 9 at the moemnt and just dont seem to be able to attract the rest to make this team.

Pendo was suppose to play Parklea but Council pulled out there ground so we couldn't play. Have a game this weekend against Minchinbury at there ground on a Saturday. Pendo will most likely play short with some kids playing cricket or little A's. But the run will do them good for the on's who do play. First trial is always going to be hard for both player and coaches.... with new players in the teams, coaches with fresh ideas. In another couple of weeks thing hopefully be sorted out. Sorry no players at Pendo to spare.

A few whispers going around. Not only is there some playing staff changes to some teams, but there is also some coaching changes. With some happening in the last week or so and others at the beginning of year. CHUTD having an ex NSL player coaching the team this season. Another returning after a look and see at nearby association local close to his house. A major change at Pendo with the previous coach stepping aside to be assistant coach to an ex Pendo Player wanting to give back to the club where he started his soccer career. He has plenty of coaching experience coaching representative teams and youth league teams and also State League Youth team.
Pendo played on Saturday winning 6 or 7 nil against Minchinbury with the new coach present and giving some instruction at half time. For the first game of the season not a bad effort but still some improvement required in some areas. Any other trial results over the weekend.

Well done CHU, good start to the season for you. Is your side stronger than last year?
Does anyone know of any Under 11/1 sides that may be looking for a trail game this weekend outside of the Granville comp. Last week we were supposed to play against Glenwood Redbacks, no game. This weekend we are supposed to play Quakers Hill, and again, no team to play.
I will do the rounds but if you hear of any team's looking, ask them to call me on 0414208445.
Has anyone entered the Sydney cup from Granville, our rego goes in tomorrow.
