Ona - I usually don't delve into these type of things, however yours is the second report I have heard about dubious unofficial officials at Auburn FC. I hope that this is purely coincidence and not a trend being set.
Granville by-laws on Unofficial officials are clear. Contrary to common belief There is no half-half or home team having to provide a referee. IMHO the best way to avoid/minimise "dubious calls" is to appoint a referee from the away team supporters if a neutral one can not be found.

Perhaps it would be helpful if at least 1 spectator had done a FFA referees course so they actually had some idea of the laws of the game - make it a condition of registration of the team by round 6 2 parents per side must have done it. Wont fix the judgement calls but might fix the blant incorrect call i saw when parent was refereeing an under 13s I think on weekend and called an offside from a throw in because defender called for it

Dundas 4 Merrylands 1 The game was a lot tighter than the score suggests, as we scored a couple of late goals to make the scoreline comfortable. Well done to the Merrylands keeper who pulled off a string of fine saves to keep them in the game for most of it.

Auburn 2 Norwest 1. A tight game between 2 evenly matched sides with all 3 goals scored in the first half. Will be interesting when they both meet again as they both match up very well against each other. Will be interesting to see if the Norwest boys can improve enough to trouble the top sides. At the moment we are more than competitive but have not got that Div 1 mindset. Still working on that.
Sat game Ville 1 Wenty 1 can't comment on game as I didn't see it.
State Cup game Woonona 1 Kellyville 0
Been an interesting couple of weeks for the Kellyville camp. With nearly two full games with extra time to get a result in round one, Round two today, turn up to the field which was nicely set up with nets and flags etc.. the only problem was, there were more craters than the moon. one of these craters had a sprinkler head sticking out of it . Both sides agreed not safe and each team took a net down and moved across to a better pitch and set the nets up again.
Anyhow......Game very even throughout. Woonona goal came after a great save by the Kville keeper but ball unfortunately fell to the feet of Woonona player who calmly slotted it in to the net (that we set up)
Good luck to Woonona and to Kellyville for a team that is languishing on the bottom of the comp table you showed how you can play.
CH Black 2 Norwest 1 A good hard fought game between these two teams with not much between them which continues to show just how tight this div has become this season. I don't know about the rest of you out there but we have only been able to play a full squad for 1 match this season, while I am happy that we decided to run with a big squad (15) most weeks we are playing with at best 13, with yesterday playing with 12 with our keeper playing the game with torn ligaments in his foot so had limited movement and couldn't kick but toughted it out. Is it the age of the boys that they start to get injuries. Like to know your thoughts.
As a neutral observer saw a great game at Curtis Oval. CH White took early lead then scored again and were in total control but to Dundas credit they hit back before half time to be 2-1 CH way at half time. Dundas continued pressure and got a deserved second goal early in second half. Good strong game by both teams, pleasure to watch. Dundas in end unlucky not to have won creating more chances late in game. Only down side was on 2 occasions ref stopped play for an injured CH player. Dundas in control on both occasions but to dismay of spectators, both times the CH player kicked ball out for a throw in well in defence for Dundas, hardly in the sportsmanship category! Maybe the coach can explain to them how it works!

cougarcoach - we have the same issue with injury and lost another player yesterday to a groin problem. More reason for us as coaches to stress the importance of a good warm up and stretch before each training session and game.
hammered - I mentioned this to the CHU coach after the game as I wasn't happy with it either. The CHU coach assured me he'd have a chat to his players.
