Hell, give the referees a break. You now want them to do 3 'senior' games in a row? How does a player feel having to play 2 games in a row? I hear enough complaints from players having to play 1 game on each of Sat & Sun, whereas most senior referees backup for 2 x 90min games on each day.
Does every player on the team sheet show up for a senior or 35s game, very rarely does this happen. Referees I heard are human as well, and have work commiments, holidays, injuries, etc much like players. If referees are at a premium , I wish players, coaches and spectators would understand like them they love the game and that love can be destroyed by abuse.
Yes there is. For starters stop referee abuse in any way you can. If you see one of your player or supporters stepping over the line make sure you let them know that they have. I remember years ago i was watching my son play in an U9 or U10 game. In a passage of play I thought he was clearly fouled. The ref didn't see it that way. I shouted "come on ref" from the side line. Our team manager who was standing a few meters in front of me turned back and gave me such an evil look that I felt like disappearing. That was the last time I made any comments towards the referees in any my sons games.
valid points, though the players that do rock up to there games everyweek shouldnt be punished. and abuse cannot be blamed as its only a small minority that actually do it. its no excuse for either,
and at the average of only having 2 officials all season, that is quite obviously a joke, and fair enough if that candidate does have other plans, im sure they arent apointed the day before a game. so who do you blame, do you blame the appointer, the ref or the player. sorry to say but in my opinion refs and the people behind appointing these officials needsome restructuring, it happened alot last season and continues to happen this season. plain and simple, its bullshit.
Get real. We never have enough referees to cover every game like you guys want, so some teams are ging to miss out each weekend. Some years we have enough experienced referees to cover most (85%+) senior games, then those with 3-6 years experience of refereeing capable of doing most senior games up to (say) sen/3, decide they have had enough for a wide vareity of reasons [and abuse is rarely one of the reasons]. So then we start again trying to recruit and train guys capable of moving to the higher divisions within a few years, and hopefully keep them for more than 3-6 years.
At this stage, we are probably only covering approx 70% of senior games because in the last 2-3 years we have lost many, many referees with that required 3+ years experience for a wide variety of reasons.
Look at your own teams - how many new players have you had in the last 5 years to your 'same' team? (they move, get married, get injured, get dis-interested, etc, etc)
Absolutely, and since you feel so passionately about the issue, how about putting your hand up, doing the course and being part of the solution? You can do 3 junior matches in the morning before your afternoon game, and depending on whether you're playing at 1pm or 3pm your can do one of the afternoon games also. This leaves your Sunday free to do another 2-3 matches, leaving your Sunday nights free to write up your send off and incident reports.
its all good to post crap like this spqr. but in reality.. refs arent doin that in comparison clearly.. if they were, then there would be no discussion, but fact of the matter is, there was no 3 junior matces beforehand or afternoon matches. referees arent turnig up at all..
god forbid, there would have to be a solution with assigning a reliable ref that new what he was signing up for when he did the course.

Rocky If you think that 27 schooners will get you over the line you are punching well above your weight. I would have thought you would have set a real target, your just lucky Geeza no longer has the chicken shop and our team bbq finally sucumbed to old age. Looking forward to tomorrows game, should be a good contest.
boys played some good passing today and created alot of chances and proboly should have finished alot more they they did. wenty only had 10 men and played in good spirits. also many thanks to the bloke who put his hand up to be ref.
Pendo black 2 ermo 2 very much a reverse fixture of round two this time it was pendle who got the start and led by one at half time the goal coming from the least amount of pressure compared to previous attacks but you take them. A long ball broke the offside trap and two up and cruising early second half . But ermo finally showed what we can do and grabbed two quick goals back to back. Points shared again and these teams are a good match up. Look forward to perhaps a decider in the finals
