Hi all, One thing I have noticed is that the Sunday girls games are mostly being played at neutral grounds. My oldest daughter has just 2 games at her home ground this year. Yesterday she travelled to Ted Burge for a match between Winston Hills and Castle Hill. A few weeks ago she travelled to Guildford West to play Kellyville for a home match. Does anyone know why so many matches are being played at a neutral ground - also why the matches always seem to be a 30 minute drive away!!
Yes, i think Dreamgoal has nailed it. If we were to play home and away we would find ourselves on grounds setup, canteen and pack up duty every second week. The atmosphere would also be lacking. It would also be difficult to roster referees effectively with often only one or two games at a lot of different grounds.
I think the driving is just the price we pay until girls soccer gets a lot bigger than it is.
Only a handful of clubs could sustain home & away matches regularly, for most of the rest, it would involve setting up grounds for 1 or 2 matches for the day.......and they could be an early morning game, then a late afternoon game.
Also helps with referee appointments to centralise the matches.
