I think they were better in Round 9 when they beat us. 3-0 is a poor reflection of the match. It was 0-0 well into the 2nd half when Parra got a bizarre indirect freekick from a backpass. Our defender slid in for an excellent tackle, the ball was diverted back to our keeper, who picked it up.
Full credit for the free-kick, it was a nice finish. We tried to get something from the game, and they caught us a couple more times on the counter.
We felt in control at 0-0, they had a couple of half-chances, but I felt our boys were very competitive. Our speedy strikers seemed to panic their back four, when a little more composure would have seen them handle situations better.
Temperamentally i think is where I think they might struggle. While it was 0-0, they became increasingly agitated and panicky. Not dramatically, but just enough to put them off their normal game. They became involved in silly confrontations, and most of my boys, who generally don't say boo to anyone, commented that they lost their focus on the game, and wanted to bait our boys.
Having said that, they have quality players, and when they play their game with the right mental attitude, they are a very good team.
From what I've seen, just my opinion only, you can hammer me if you want, i rank them:
Just a word on Wenty Uniting, they have flown a little under the radar, but they gave us 2 comprehensive beatings when we played them. Parra City are deserved favourites, no doubt, but Wenty are a good team, quality boys, and will give a great account of themselves next Saturday.
Auburn and Merrylands will be a cracker, hoping the timings with my own semi-final works out and I can watch it. I tip Auburn, they are a tremendous team, but Merrylands cannot be written off, and have shaped up well to Auburn in the games this year.
Finally, I want to thank you all for a tremendous season. I found EVERY team to be good sports, played hard but fair. I cannot give you one incident in any of the games we played to complain about, you are all a credit to the Association and your clubs.
Thanks to all of the coaches, all of your teams played good, hard, spirited football, and it was pleasure to shake your hands after every game.
We at Toonie are reasonably happy with our season, we seemed to save our best for the better teams! But we have a young squad, our first in Div 1. When i told them at the start of the year I was nominating them for Div 1, the look of horror was priceless!!! But I know the boys feel they belonged in this comp, and even though we were well down the table, we acquitted ourselves with spirit, and a little bit of skill as well.
Yeah we have a few...but we'll field a good team anyway. I'm more concerned that our kids won't wake up by 10am let alone play at 10.30am. I'm going to let you and Stan in on our secret plan for Saturday... We're not going to play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1............................................................................................. we are going to play 10-0-0 and if you score a goal it would have to be a screamer.lol. Nah, the best team will win,we'll just try to compete for 70 minutes again.lol. You guys and Parra seem to bring out our best, so it should be a ripper.
Can I hope that some (most) of your kids are injured?
Auburn 4 mlands 1 Although it was a bigger score line then in previous games, this was the best game ive seen mlands play. For the most part mlands worked hard but we didn't play our best. I think the fitness of our boys got us over the line in the 2nd half as we strung more passes and finished off strong. Howd parracity go?

Sir Alex, I went to watch parra after our game, you can't underestimate Wenty, they've flown under the radar all year and no-one has given them a chance. Although Parra had more/better chances the result is that we play Wenty. We won't be taken them easy and I don't think it's going to be a walk in the park. Yeah, better performace from us, but if it was 70 minutes, it would've been much closer. Heads went down after you scored the 2nd. It was an incredible and intense game until those late goals. That game will hopefully carry into this week and the next (hopefully).
City had an unlucky loss against wenty, they scored a VERY soft goal which our defence should have easily stopped. Other than that we had 10 times the opportunities wenty had but the ball just wouldnt go in the net..
It was a good season but i think that our players attitudes need to change, looking forward to the next season and good luck to everyone in the semis.
siralex you are a very good coach and a good role model, you dont need me but the others do,and i know you are sitting back there rubbing your hands together that these guys are not listening to crazy old stan
This is my opinion and i don't give a toss what you think
Stan, I reckon u could play 555 and Auburn would still win.....lol. Fig Tree are the only other team in this state that could give Auburn a shake. I just hope they are on opposite sides of teh draw for the C of C. Bad luck Mr Football, but what a season for Wenty....
It was a huge shock, like mrfootball said how they didn't score a few was beyond belief. They had possession, most of the ball and some shots that just missed, it was a soft goal. Anything could happen during the finals, and we're not going to underestimate Wenty at all, they work well as a team. First thing I did was text the boys, i'll get their reaction tomorrow night, but I was expecting a determined parra city this week, it still should be a cracker game.
