CHU are a more complete side than ML and I agree they should take the points. Fred C 1 is a large field and CHU will use it to move ML around.
My mail is that BH not happy with recent outings and that StMBH may feel the brunt of this on the weekend.
Still reckon that NR can get the result. They have a better blend of players across the park and if they can get away from playing the ball square (or back) as often as they do they can look more dangerous.
Results mainly as predicted. NR v WH the exception.
As predicted CHU took the points and regained 2nd position. This is a position they can maintain til season end albeit by the slimmest of margins (ie 1 point). This will be handy to give 2 bites at the cherry come S/F time.
PC did enough to get the bacon against GR to consolidate 4th spot. However 2 -1 not convincing.
Not sure what happened at the WH v NR match?? Any reports???
Unfortunately cannot see either of these sides figuring in the top 4 barring some major dramas with the current top 4.
StMBH v BH. According to reports a scrappy affair with BH never really getting out of 2nd gear doing enough to get the points but a rather lacklustre performance. StMBH offerring little other than a long ball kick and hope. Seemed to be preoccupied with minimizing the damage rather than being offensive (a 9 -3 first rnd result will do this).
BH will need to improve over the coming weeks if they are to lay claim to being the premier side in this comp
A preview for this weekend to come.
It seems that plenty of sides are short of a training session because of the weather. Here is hoping it stays dry and training takes place mid week so that weekend games reflect a degree of fluency. What has been on offer lately has been sub standard.
ML v WH went ahead?? Heard that Masonic was closed.
What of this appeal you suggested against CHU?? What is the basis??
PC 3 - BH 0. Game moved to field no.2
The report that I have is that no one should be too excited about the result.
BH 9 players - PC 13+ players
According to those that were there PC very unconvincing (got the points though). BH conceded 1st goal via a penalty for hand ball in the box. Second goal a chip / lofted shot prior to half time. 2 - 0 at the break with BH giving it plenty.
BH came out in the second half and had repeated attacks against PC goal hitting the woodwork 3 times in the first 5 mins.
Fatigue played a part for 9 BH players and conceded another mid way through second half.
Consensus was from those who were there that PC struggled against 9 players and that a full strength BH would have more than accounted for them.
Rest of the round 10 catch up as a double up in a couple of weeks I hear
ML v WH moved to max ruddock. CHU played an illegible player, not on the team sheet. We'll see a bit later if this appeal is succesful, but don't be surprised if the table changes down the track, is all I'm saying.
I didn't konw that BH had 9 players, always hard when playing short, I'm guessing that some players/teams, had made other arrangements during this weekend, school holidays...

Interesting isn't it... Both games should be absolute crackers. Can't go past BH and CHU can you, i think they've set the bench mark all year. I feel that ML and PC are just half a step from these 2 teams. It will make it intersting if there are a couple of upsets though...
Hi all Parra city v BH BH had only 9 players but all goals were very good, hand ball in the box, what do you do,not give it some times playing with 9 players can lift a team, i feel that parra had to much time on the ball so it was bad for us, parra had 2 players out...

Ml 1 BH 0.
The upset of the year, I think. Great game, I wasn't there the first time they met but what a game this time around. Our boys lifted and competed. We had most of the best and more chances in the game. Saying that, though, some of BH shots were rockets, hit the post once and just missed on 2 occasions. And BH had 13 players...lol...
Other commitments meant that I was not able to take in any of the Saturday games. But you must have had the inside mail... very interesting!!!
But first the results
BH 0 - ML 1 GR 2 - WH 2 NR 1 - StMBH 2 PC 0 - CHU 1
StMBH 1 - CHU 2
Congrats to ML and special mention to GR ....... their first (and hopefully not last) points for the season. No side deserves to suffer that.
BH what has happened??? The wheels have fallen off!! Very wobbly was the report that I received.
Conceded another penalty (2 weeks in a row). According to my source the penalty recipient had several practice goes at it prior to finally being awarded one. "Matthew Mitcham has some competition" was the refrain.
Look at the scoreboard I say.
On to Sunday
A very lacklustre performance saw CHU go a goal down early to StMBH. This was the half time score.
Second half picked up where first half ended ....... scrappy. Part way through the half a well taken solo effort from the right hand side beat the StMBH keeper (and realistically any keeper in the comp). 1 - 1 scoreline.
StMBH doggedly defended and CHU missed some sitters!! Probably 3.
It appeared to not be CHU day to win, but literally with the last play of the game, a throw in deep on the RHS, cross whipped in and the ball hit the scorer in the stomach to creep over the line just inside the far post.
Not even enough time to KO. Final score CHU 2 - 1. What a relief.
CHU move into first position.
This weekend vs BH will help sort out a few things.
Ml were unlucky not to be 3 or 4 up at half time v BH. Had all the game and possession. I thought the decision not to give a second penalty was harsh, but ref had given the first which was soft. All in all great result, great performance.
Now this week... Match of the season so far: BH v CHU BH to just get there, or a draw would be nice (lol) ML v NR MR to continue fine form WH v PC PC STM v GR I'm going for a draw.
