Winston Hills Blk 4 Auburn FC 0. Was one of those days for the Auburn boys. Slippery conditions, players out in key positions. Went down to 2 early goals and were chasing the game from there. Not taking away from 4 really good goals by Winsto. Out of all the teams we've played, Winsto Blk will be hard to beat.

Just wanted to comment on a thoroughly enjoyable game down at Masonic on Saturday, St Michaels V Winston Hills. Not sure how both teams are doing on the ladder but some great football on show from both teams and a very even game. I play Reserve grade (well I do when I'm not injured) and was very suprised with the standard of football on show. Congrats to both teams and good luck for the rest of the season Glenn
Dickson I know exactly what you mean. I'm not from the 8s (I'd like to claim reserve grade status too but unfortunately I'm in the lowly 35s) but I have watched both Winston Hills sides a couple of times and have been impressed with the quality on show from both the Winsto teams and their opponents. Very tight competition too from what I see on the table. Looking forward to heading out to watch some more games in the business end of the season.
Olebear, I actually stumbled upon the game because I took my little brother to the skate park there and he ended up waiting for me until the game had finised. I'll definitely be keeping an eye for any future games down there. I checked the ladder and it looks very close at the top, who are you guys tipping? Any stand out players?
Guildford County 0 - St Michael's Knights 1 Scrappy game. Guildford completely duffed a penalty way over the bar in about the 10th minute, and St Mick's scored in the last minute. Guildford claimed it was over the goal line before it was scored, but I happened to be directly in line after picking up another ball that had gone out, and can definitely let them know it was a fair goal. Poor bloody club ref had to put up with too much whinging by both sides.
Auburn FC 2 Greystanes 3. Auburn scored 2 goals in the first 10 mins, and unfortunately some of the guys thought the game was done. Stanes were level at half time and got the winner in the second half to a nice free kick. Auburn rallied and had stanes on the back foot but couldn't find an equalizer. Game was played in good spirit. The table will look a lot different come Monday!
Dickson It appears none of the teams want to go around beating their chests! I haven't seen too many of the teams but from those that I have seen it's a very even comp. I went out and watched the Winsto Whites V Rockets game yesterday and it was a ripper. Castle Hill had 2 or 3 very very good players- skillful and quick around the park. All three of those guys could (and probably have) play a lot higher than the 8s. They just seemed to lack a bit of polish up front and they never really looked like scoring. Winsto were very solid- no outstanding players on their side but play quite well as a team. They scored their lone goal from a scrappy corner, with the ball pinballing around for what seemed an eternity before someone knocked it in.
Also watching it, it seemed an incredibly clean game. Great sportsmanship from both teams with players having a laugh all through the game.
I've seen Winsto Black play a couple of times and they knock the ball around very well as a team. They've come from a higher division and it shows, with most of their team quite good on the ball. They've struggled for numbers all year, but are quality when they're all on deck.
Auburn are strong as well. The game I watched they had one very talented midfielder who just controlled the game brilliantly. No real weaknesses at all.
Greystanes and the only other team I've seen and they were great. They had one young bloke (he was wearing 10 the week I saw them) who just toyed with the opposition with the ball at his feet. Probably held it too long if anything, but definitely had great control. They've got quick blokes down either side and they basically live on through balls to those young guys (or at least they did in the one game I watched) which seems to play to their strengths and works for them
So basically I've got no idea who the best team is, but they all seem pretty good to me!
No scores at all from up Winsto way- The Blacks had the bye this week while the Whites V CHU was postponed as we closed the ground (the club that is, the council opened it despite the swimming pool up the far end).
I'm looking forward to heading out to the local Winsto derby next week! Should be a cracker.
