Should have been 1-1 in all honesty, 2 disgusting calls from the ref, obvious offside.....Looking forward to meeting them in the finals with proper officials. They can be beaten, I question whether they are all 13 years of age. Great game from St Micks, should be very proud of themselves.
A well deserved victory for Ermo even if they were gifted the first goal through our goalkeepers error. We beat them 2-0 the first time around in a very close tussle & I knew it was going to be a tough one this time. We had a few chances but our inability to shoot at the right time or shoot on target made Ermo's job easier. Ermo were also first to the ball on 75% of the time on 50/50's.
Plenty still to work on at training & our job of making the semis now has just become a lot harder as we now have to rely on other teams losing once or twice.
The unofficial home ref had a good match but needs to know it is only the opposing players that have to be outside of the penalty box when a goal kick is being taken.
(2 disgusting calls from the ref). Only 2, now you know how we felt last time we played you at your home ground!! Was it one of your refs (maybe the same one that reffed our match) or was it one of theirs? When we last played Regents Park their home ref was one of the better refs we have had this season.
In regard to your other allegation, why when teams come up against good teams with kids of African decent their ages are questioned. Just admire their athleticism & ability. The only hassle I have with Regents Park is that they were poorly graded in Div 4. And that is not the kids fault.
yeah u had a tough day in the office at our home ground.
both first 2 goals were offside by at least 5 meters.. we really had them on the back foot for a while. In regards to my comment. I was actually talking about the caucasian kids. There are 2 that are my height and 2 just under.
Good luck for the finals, it is a mathematical possibility.
Another match in which the boys were dominant but could not put away the chances that were created. Our first goal was a great move down the right hand side with the ball crossed in over the keepers out stretched hands into the path of our striker whom very calmy headed the ball into the open net (something his coach could not do earlier in the season).
Our 2nd was from what was basically a brain snap from 1 of the N Rocks players that for no particular reason punched the ball at shoulder height inside the penalty box. Our other striker stepped up & although I do not think he hit it all that sweetly, beat the keeper that did go the right way.
N Rocks tried all match but I do not think they actually had a shot which is testament to our defence on the day & their keeper once again made some fine saves.
I heard that the young ref we had was actually doing his first match? & although seemingly a bit nervous & hesitant in some of his decisions, he went alright. Well done.
1 down, 3 to go. A real tough match v the runaway leaders Regents Park at Masonic this week. To have any chance at all we need to take every chance that we can create & that goes for our last 2 matches as well.
A real tough match today due to the way Pendo played, the windy conditions, the way that we played & finishing the match with just 10 players due to 3 lads coming off injured. 1 lad pulled out due to sickness last night & 1 this morning as well.
Pendo had just 1 sub so it was tough for them as well & although I do not think they played all that well they were up for a battle. Their coach was obviously very keen to win too as he was very persistent in shouting out instructions & pacing up & down the sideline (aren't you supposed to stay in the Technical Area??).
Winsto had the 'advantage?' of the wind in the first half but had trouble controlling the ball & put too many long balls through that went away for goal kicks. Winsto only had 1 decently hit shot that went straight towards the keeper whom reacted quickly to punch it away. 0-0 HT.
Pendo put more pressure on us in the second half & did not rely on long balls to go forward. On the sideline it felt like a matter of time before Pendo would score, not so much that they were that much better than us or that they had many chances to shoot. They were just camped in our half for long periods & it just felt like it was going to be one of those games.
With about 15 minutes left I threw caution to the wind & changed our formation as we needed to win to stay alive. With about 7 minutes to go 1 of the lads could not continue due to a back injury so we were down to 10. With just less than 5 on the clock, we had a throw in where there was a bit of pinball between a couple of the players before the ball bounced just in front of one of our lads whom just hit a speculater into the penalty box. Luckily for us it went towards the same lad that scored the good header a couple of weeks ago & with great control & direction, he headed (looped) the ball very deliberately over the keepers head & into the goal. The keeper may not have been in the best position as he was caught in no mans land really. 1-0 to Winsto.
I changed back to our original formation & although there was a couple of worrying moments, we saw the match out.
We took the points which was the main aim but I would have loved to have seen the lads play some better football.
I have just checked the Granville website & unfortunately for us Ermo beat St Michaels 4-2. So apart from next weeks match, that is us done for the semis.
Well done to Regents Park, St Michaels, Wenty & Ermo for making the semis. Good luck to you all. Enjoy the atmosphere of the finals series.
Unlucky Keep trying.......I would assume you didn't carry on like a peanut like the BH coach did. We played a great game and were lucky with some deflexions but the BH coach should never be allowed to coach such a team. Extremly dissapointing to see and hear. I will be suprised if the kids come back/. GL for the next couple of games.
BH 1 v WH 2
As this match had no bearing on the competition other than the 3 points up for grabs I changed every kids position including the very reluctant GK. Some of the kids enjoyed the challenge others were not so keen.
Winsto ran with the wind in the first half & due to this & the way the boys played, our GK did not touch the ball & we went to HT 1 nil up. The wind was still strong but the first 10 minutes of the second half once again saw us camped in their half. We went 2 nil up in a match that Winsto deserved to win so when BH pulled one back I was desperately hoping that they would not equalise. It did not happen & the right team won.
The reason I put the quote up is due to the BH coaches behavior throughout this match. I had not seen it in our previous meetings. One particular incident saw one of the BH lads become aggravated due to not being given a free kick after he fell over after a shoulder to shoulder challenge with himself & one of our players. He then preceded to very cynically take out the player that had tackled him with a one footed tackled that took out both of my players legs & it was obvious that he had no intention of going for the ball as it was long gone. Luckily my player was not hurt. The coach did nothing, not a word. Had one of my players done that he would have come straight off the field & would have sat on the bench for the rest of the match.
At any level that tackle was poor & to say that it was even worse in a meaningless 13/4 match is not quite right but you know what I mean. Unrfortunately the ref did not even book him. I would have sent him straight off hasd I had the whistle.
Early tip for next week St Michaels v Ermo My tip Ermo All teams would have rathered played Winsto in the semis than Ermo. They have finished the season well
Thanks leedslldo. So much for being the supportive neighbour. I wouldn't put any $$ on it if I were you.
St Michaels 2 - Ermo 1...............Enough said.
I was thinking the same thing about alfster's post.
1/ He did not have anytime to elaborate on the match 2/ The match was that scrappy that it did not deserve a report 3/ Ermo deserved to win & alfster was embarrassed by the result 4/ Immediately after the match alfster has been hard at it devising a plan to win next week 5/ St Michaels played the match of their lives but he knows that it will not be enough for next week 6/ Because I dared to tip Ermo to win, alfters "Enough said" was actually the 'bird' to Leeds
Well, well done to St Michaels for their victory. I do always like to see the top 2 teams in the GF.
I must upset 'The Alfster' again though & tip that Regents Park will win & that I actually hope that they do as they have been the best team for the whole comp & it would be a shame if the only match that they did not win for the whole season was the GF. Leeds jnr jnr will be backing St Michaels though as he goes to school with a couple of the boys.
Good luck to both teams though & enjoy the day as it is a blast, win or lose.

I just wanted to post the scoreline thats all. I actually don't have to much time to spend on these forums as I have 5 kids, commitment to work, coach 2 teams + charity work. I would assume that the people that are on the forum that are in this sub text or forum(whatever you want to call it) have seen us play, hence the "enough said" comment. If leedslldo wants the bird I am sure he has had it before. GL to our boys on Saturday I really hope we have done enough. I agree that they have been the inform team, just have a look at the GD. Hope to see you on Saturday
