I got you straight away, pretty even game up to half time then 2 quick goals, game over,2 own goals didnt help but your boys were better side 2nd half and derserved it,not putting a team in gala day as we have 4-5 playing in paul frasers team,he has 2 teams in it.we went to carss park gala day which had some good teams,we won 2 ad lost 2,against rockdale and glenwood, who both made semis and rockdale made final,be good to just watch ethan without having to coach him
Cantona - I am confused - you say that the Rams (Red/Black) have had solid performances against CHU (red/black) and Kellyville - after coming off an undefeated season last year - can you let me know what the results were against these teams?
Redcard yes it was a good game and a fair result in the end, ville scored an own goal then sneaked a lucky but deserved draw against the best team in comp
rouse hill lost against both c hill teams and kellylive in first half of comp and then beat ville and drew with your boys so improvement on first half of season, good day tday at your gala day, some quality teams
I have just checked in for the first time in the past couple of weeks, however I appreciate that 'Notworthy' has provided a good explanation on behalf of Ram (Red/Black).
The kids from Rams enjoyed a mixed start to the season as they adjusted to a couple of new players and a new coach (who's a top bloke), however they have hit a purple patch in recent weeks and pulled off a couple of solid results against CHU (0v0) and Kolts (4v1....I think).
I really enjoy watching all 3 teams play (my son has close friends in each team) and I believe this age group has some of the best kids in the area.
I watched many games at the Castlehaven Cup and it was great day !
did you see/hear what happened in the semi-finals. The Castle Hill / Enfield game ended 0 v 0, so the game was decided on corners ??!?!!? I have never heard of that rule before, I assume it must be a local / Aussie rule
Cantona/Notworthy - those were the rules of the gala day but from what I am led to believe the CHU coaches didn't brush up and were unaware of this going into the game. It was a bit disappointing to not conceed a goal all day and to go down in corners in the semi final to the eventual winner...
So with one game to go for my son (as the last round is a bye) it is a game against the other CHU team. It has been a good season for the boys.
I did actually get to last Saturday's game against Brumbies and was very disappointed in the way the Brumbies played. They are usually a club that promote football but I didn't see them string 2 passes together all game. Maybe that will come as they get older.

I reffed Enfield's first game on the CH Gala day. First time watching boys of that age play really but I was really impressed with Enfield's passing and movement and some of their boys could really hit a ball.
i too been a bit dissapointed with brumbies, beat them well both times,we played the other c hill team this week and won 4-1,they also a good team,2 strong u9 teams you got there, happy to get 2 wins and a draw against you this year,2 more games to go then a gala day at rouse hill
It would be nice if everyone encouraged the spirit of SSF and allowed the children to play soccer for their own enjoyment instead of trying to live through the children and forcing adult values of competition on them.
Go and read the post about zero tolerance test - that's what the win at all costs attitude leads to.
Parko - I am an advocate of SSF but there are kids who need development because they may take the game further but there are also kids who won't play for the soccer-roos. Why can't they try to win something in football?
Other sports, school activities etc - all have competitions where there are winners and losers. It teaches kids how to both win and lose (hopefully graciously)
I agree and disagree. Kids are competitive by nature and cannot see the harm in playing for points at 9 years of age however if points are up for grabs they may coached to win by any means and you know that means , Put your biggest kicker at the back and your fastest runner up front and long balls forward and the no passing.I think we should respect Granvilles logic , I suppose the Gladesville comp is their if you want the competition.
