I think more referees read this forum than they do the other so i'm posting this here. I heard about gps tracking watches and thought it will be good to use them while refereeing. Once i saw the price tag of over $200 i had second thoughts. Then i realised i have a GPS on my android phone. Downloaded the MY Track app and here is the result of my second track recording on the weekend:
It is a little inaccurate at times (as you can tell from the max speed i do get up to 20km/h though) but the nice thing about the app is that you can replay your movement (animated) on google earth and see your movement, you can see when you are standing still, walking or sprinting etc.
And before anyone asks. No i didn't carry my phone in my pocket. I borrowed my son's comms device vest and it was secured in a pouch in the back of the vest. After all it is a comms device .
Amazing, you covered that much ground in three games. I am impressed
No thats only half time on the one game ;D. I'm more impressed with the technology. Here is a replay of the start of the game when put into google earth. Kick off is about 3sec. Watch the prints on about 48sec www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vd47cBdYVU&hd=1
